Live Chat TODAY: 1 pm CST, Retiring Dave Obey

Today is the one-year anniversary of my opponent David Obey’s 787 billion dollar stimulus disaster.  Remember their promises?  If the stimulus passed, unemployment would stay below 8%.  Unemployment rose above 10%, and has reached 17% when you include people who have simply given up looking for jobs.  They said the stimulus would create 3 million new jobs.  We’ve lost 3 million new jobs.

A recent survey in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel found that 69% of staff economists believe the stimulus has had “no impact on employment to date.”

Even Democratic Senator Evan Bayh, who announced his retirement this week, said “If I could create one job in the private sector by helping grow a business, that would be one more than Congress has created in the past six months.”

The stimulus has been an unmitigated disaster, plunging us deeper in debt but doing nothing to help our economy recover.

Today I’m asking you to join me in fighting back.

We’re hosting a “moneybomb” today at www.obeystimulus.com, to educate voters about Chairman Obey, Congress’ biggest spender, and the stimulus bill that he wrote.

We’ll also be chatting live right here at 1 p.m. CST.  I hope you can join us! Leave your questions for me in the comments below.

Let’s roll,

Sean

Thank you for your card Sean

NeoKong (Diary) Wednesday, February 17th at 1:58PM EST (link)

To those who do not know what I am speaking about I sent Sean Duffy some money a while back and he sent me a thank you card.

The envelope was hand written and the card inside was also personally signed.
It said “Thank you ! Our kids and grand kids are counting on us.”
I have never received a hand written political letter before. It was a nice touch. Thank you Sean.
You’re a good guy.
I’m sending a few more bucks your way.

Thank you

Thanks. I’m grateful to everyone who has been helping us out. It’s a real grassroots effort.

Where's the chat?

RottDawg (Diary) Wednesday, February 17th at 2:11PM EST (link)

I got one of those cards from you too, Sean. Sorry I missed you on Saturday in WR, but was under the weather. I’m hoping you beat Obey like a rented mule.

We had a great turnout in Wisconsin Rapids. There’s definitely a movement afoot. Obey is touring the Northland right now. Several voters have politely tried to ask him questions and he either barks at them or blows them off. People deserve a representative who will respond to their questions.

Git 'em, Sean

Obey is one of the most detestable legislators in Washington. You have our full support. If we can win in MA, we can certainly retire this parasite.

I’m a banned Democrat who came here to promote the idea that Republicans are racists for disliking Barack Obama.

We need all the help we can get. Obey gets a ton of special interest money from DC. The grassroots is driving our campaign.

We’re thrilled that the Governor has taken note of our race and is driving her 1.4 million fans to our moneybomb.

She just Tweeted it, too.

Character and Competence

madnorskie Wednesday, February 17th at 2:24PM EST (link)

Sean is one of the young conservatives who has the ability to lead this party back to its roots of liberty and first principles. He has the character and competence to be a leader in the House, and help restore respect and dignity back to our legislature…and just as importantly, he is electable. To borrow from Kipling, he is a man who can walk with the crowd and keep his virtue, and sit with kings and not lose the common touch.

Dave Obey is going to be able to flood this district with money, thanks in part to the special interests whom he showered in his stimulus. If you can, open your pocketbook and help send a shot across the bow of the House Democratic leadership.

Madnorske

seanduffy (Diary) Wednesday, February 17th at 2:29PM EST (link)

That is very kind of you, Madnorske. Obey has lost all touch with reality. His scheme of buying votes with special interest projects in our district is finally being exposed. The people have finally woken up to the fact that this is money borrowed from China that we and our kids are going to have to pay back.

Stimulus Spending

seanduffy (Diary) Wednesday, February 17th at 2:24PM EST (link)

It’s been great seeing how people are donating to our effort to retire Dave Obey in the name of outrageous stimulus projects. Reading the tweets and all of the ridiculous projects just makes people’s blood boil.

Eric was great on CNN. I’m waiting for him to show up on Meet the Press.

Obey's attitude

RottDawg (Diary) Wednesday, February 17th at 2:41PM EST (link)

I have seen this man only once that I know of, a parade when I was a kid. My dad asked him a question and I don’t even remember what it was, but I sure do remember Obey’s response… “I’ll pray for you.” I have seen some of his interaction with voters of late on video, he’s is a vile creature!

Man is not free unless government is limited.

seanduffy (Diary) Wednesday, February 17th at 2:42PM EST (link)

If anyone is going to be in the greater Spooner, Wisconsin area I’ll be at the Spooner Lincoln Day Dinner on Sat. Feb. 20th. Also check out my website www.duffyforcongress.com and click on “Where is Sean” to find out when I’m going to be in your area.

Thank you all for participating and for helping me take down the author of the stimulus bill. See you on the campaign trail! Let’s Roll!

Everything about the stimulus

texasgalt (Diary) Wednesday, February 17th at 6:20PM EST (link)

is negative when it comes to sustainable growth and private sector jobs. I am sure it has been great for growing government and rewarding “friends”. Obey must go but he won’t go easily.

Cut spending where possible and freeze it where you can’t cut it. Remove the regulation and tax burden on small business and then the jobs will come back. Voters will rally to you if you carry this message and MEAN it. Good luck, Sean.
Love your email updates.

Bring common sense to our district!

I live in WI-7 and I am extremely disappointed that the voters here seem content to re-elect Dave Obey every 2 years – and usually by relatively large margins. The people here are not overwhelmingly liberal, but I think most are unaware of what Dave Obey is really like. Many seem to think he is a “moderate” democrat, which isn’t even close to true. Part of the problem is that he never seems to have a strong opponent. But it doesn’t look like that is the case this time! Go Sean!

Oh, and Sean, I am one non-liberal who will be skiing the Birkie next week, I know members of your family have been involved in the race since the beginning.
