McCain’s Rodents of Unusual Size

Tuesday Wasn't All Bad News After All...

Just wanted to make a brief observation regarding the Palin smears coming from the McCain camp. I’ve commented before that my personal experience working for a McCain organization in D.C. in the 1990s gave me the impression that McCain was a snake and the people he surrounded himself with were mostly (as the Princess Bride put it) “Rodents of Unusual Size.”

The cowardly (dare I say dastardly?) smears that are coming from the ex-members of the McCain campaign are par for the course for that group. The general rule of thumb in the organization I worked for was, “if it succeeds It was all my doing, if it fails, someone else is to blame” and the back-stabbing and willingness to throw others under the bus was quite apparent.

Social Issues Are the Key to Winning the Blue States

Why Aren't We Learning From Proposition 8?

For some time now Republicans have assumed that the key to winning over the blue states is to sell them on conservative economic policies and to run away from a conservative social and ethical agenda.

Clearly that plan isn’t working.

The success of Proposition 8 in massive Blue State California should finally indicate to Republicans that the key to success in Blue States is not CONSERVATIVE ECONOMICS but CONSERVATIVE ETHICS. If you look at the ballot measures, the people in Blue States voted for socialist politicians but conservative ethical and social positions. Sure, there is a liberal white intelligentsia in all the cities, but they are only a tiny proportion of the voting bloc.

If Republicans Want to Keep Losing Elections…

Here Are 8 Things They Should Keep Doing
  1. Keep this centrist-moderate thing that totally alienates the base going
  2. Continue to Nominate Uninspiring Elderly Bob Dole Clones
  3. Continue to Run Away from Critical Social Issues that Resonate with Working Class Americans Like Abortion, Gay Marriage, and Gun Control.
  4. Keep Treating the Liberal Media like they don’t work for the DNC
  5. Continue to Empower and Laud RINO politicians
  6. Never Actually RUN on a Winning Platform Like Tax REFORM
  7. Keep Dreaming that You Can Win with Just Southern and Underpopulated MidWestern States
  8. Keep Growing the Government and Spending Like Drunken Sailors

The Price of the Presidency

ACORN, Fraudulent Donations & The Greater Lesson of the Lack of Outrage or Prosecution

A Pastor Friend recently documented the laughable ease with which he donated to the Obama campaign from South Africa using a false name. He rightly asked “Where is the Outrage?” Where indeed, more to point “where is the prosecution for this and the host of other obvious acts of fraud that have been and continue to be blatantly used to help elect Obama?” Well, the answer to that one is “Don’t hold your breath.”

What we are seeing now, and what I fear we will see even more in the future are the culmination of two factors one major and one minor.

“Liberal Katie Couric (D)”

Or Will the Republicans Learn From the MSM Debacle?

A Great NRO Article from Victor David Hansen obliquely points out what should be painfully obvious to everyone at this point, the MSM was actually part of the Obama campaign and as a result neither Obama’s inexperience or Biden’s incompetence received even the slightest attention from the media. Instead we had to watch as the media set out to demonize and destroy housewives and plumbers in a manner that would have been to shameful for even the most craven of playground bullies. The party that ran an ACORN organizer for the White House and a comedian for the Senate was given a pass, while a candidate with actual executive experience was treated like she’d spent the last decade in special ed classes. It was, as many have put it, the year journalism (finally) died.

Are We About to Elect a Man Indonesia Considered A Muslim and A Naturalized Citizen?

Is He Barack Hussein Obama, American Christian, or Barry Soetero, Indonesian Muslim?

Obama became a naturalized citizen of Indonesia when his mother married an Indonesian man and moved to that country. Obama was also legally listed as Muslim and given the name of his adoptive father – Soetero. Under Sharia law, when a Muslim man marries a woman her children become Muslim too, this is also the case when he adopts a child, both of which are true in Obama’s (or Soetero if you go by his adoptive name) case. The Sharia rule is the law of the land in Indonesia and has landed many a Christian whose parents have remarried in a difficult position, because Sharia, and Indonesia, forbid conversion from Islam to any other religion. Regardless, Obama’s claim to always have been a Christian is highly suspect. Most Christian denoms consider baptism to be the outward sign of one’s affiliation with Christ, and I’ve yet to hear of any evidence Barry Soetero was ever baptized.

Obama on Abortion, the Simple Facts

An Obama Presidency Would Wipe Out Every Pro-Life Gain Over the Past 30 Years!

This is a direct quote from Newsweek, a mainstream liberal newsmagazine, on the consequences for the Pro-Life position of the election of Obama. Keep in mind he will have sizable Democratic majorities in the Congress and Senate. Obama’s election would, in one fell-swoop, reverse every single gain made by pro-lifers in the last 30 years and even remove the right of Doctors to refuse to do abortions:

“According to his own Web site, Obama supports the federal Freedom of Choice Act [FOCA], which would eliminate all state and federal regulation of abortion (such as informed consent and parental notification in the case of minors seeking an abortion); these regulations have demonstrably reduced the absolute number of abortions in the jurisdictions in which they are in effect. FOCA would also eliminate, by federal statute, state laws providing “conscience clause” protection for pro-life doctors who decline to provide abortions. Obama (along with the Democratic Party platform) supports federal funding for abortion, opposes the Hyde amendment (which restricts the use of taxpayer monies for abortion) and has pledged to repeal the “Mexico City policy” (initiated by Ronald Reagan and reinstated by George W. Bush, which bans federal foreign-aid funding for organizations that perform and promote abortion as a means of family planning). According to the pro-choice Web site RHRealityCheck.org, Obama also opposes continued federal funding for crisis pregnancy centers.” – Newsweek, Oct. 14, 2008

Is McCain Running For President or Senator?

Ok John, after several hours, I’m still trying to figure out what you’re doing. Two debates down and you still haven’t even made the basic point that the Fannie-Mae, Freddie-Mac crisis was crafted ENTIRELY by Democrats (points for at least mentioning that Obama got contributions from them) or that they were the ones fighting regulation tooth and nail . You haven’t mentioned names like Dodd or Frank (or his made-out-like-a-bandit boyfriend), you haven’t pointed out that your opponent is an old-school Marxist whose cadre of friends and advisers has it’s own rogues gallery of crooks, terrorists, and criminals. You haven’t used words like infanticide or gun confiscation or quoted Obama to that effect. Where is the mention of Ruth Bader Ginsberg Style Supreme Court choices? Where is the leadership on moral issues? You haven’t even touched the social issues that strike a cord across racial and class lines. Talk about the radical gay agenda of your opponents allies, for heavens sake! You have one of the most vulnerable opponents in history, and yet you are giving him pass on almost every issue.

Additionally, you’ve kept your most potent weapon, Sarah Palin, in check. In short, you are acting like you are many, many, points ahead in the polls, and just need to play out the clock, when in fact you are actually behind.

Pray for Possibly the Most Persecuted Christian Sister in America

I’d encourage Christians to pray for Sarah Palin if not as a politician, then just as a sister in Christ. She clearly entered the fray not knowing how entirely the media and the American left were set on totally destroying her and her family. They have already decided the spin is that she is Dan Quayle Mark II and are clearly going all out to portray her as inexperienced, fanatically religious, and hopelessly stupid. Of course the fact that the top of the Dem ticket is even less experienced, spent 20 years under the preaching of a Marxist racist, and uses a teleprompter even when speaking to crowds at a rodeo is never mentioned. Outside of Zimbabwe, we have the most lopsided Presidential race coverage in the world, and clearly she’s wilting under the heat. Tonight she’ll have questions from Gwen Ifill, whose own peon of praise to Obama is set to be released on the day of his inauguration.

Obamalogic – Premies Aren’t People

(Unless Mommy Wants Them)

Barack Obama is committed at all costs to keeping all forms of abortion at any stage in the pregnancy, legal. One of the interesting consequences of this position is that it necessarily involves denying that a child is a person unless that child was full-term and intentionally delivered. For instance CNS News reports that Obama declared in 2002:

Obama went on to question whether the law would pass constitutional muster if the “child … temporarily alive outside the womb” was called a “person.”

“Number one, whenever we define a pre-viable fetus as a person that is protected by the Equal Protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we’re really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a–a child, a nine-month-old child that was delivered to term. That determination then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place.”

Gov. Palin, there’s an angry mob here to lynch you…

Or Why Does the Left Hate Her So Much?

All American political campaigns are nasty, and that is to be expected. In the 19th century, for instance, vote buying, extortion, libel, beatings, intimidation, and even murder, were all par for the course. So I don’t expect genteel behavior when it comes to the natural man’s quest for political power. But as I’ve been cruising the web of late I’ve been struck by the intensity of the wickedly angry vitriol being aimed at Sarah Palin. No insult is too mean, no action too underhanded and awful, her enemies would literally like to rip her limb from limb with their bare hands, and then they’d give each other bloody high-fives when they were done.

The reason this strikes me as odd is that the top of the ticket is a much easier target. While they have to invent scandals to smear Palin, McCain has the equivalent of a walk-in skeleton closet. For instance, he was involved up to his eye-balls in the S&L scandals of the 80s and early 90s and yet we seldom hear a peep about that.

So why does the left hate Palin so much more than McCain? The only explanation I can find is that they perceive her to be visibly a member of the “religious right.” The comments section of blogs bears that out, and because she is member of the religious right, there is the perception that she must be bigotted, hypocritical, and above all stupid. Regardless of your feelings about the ticket itself, the “crucify, crucify!” level of angry mob abuse Palin is taking seems to be yet another example of the truth of Christ’s words in John 15:17-19.

John McWho?

or "Dude, Where's My Candidate?"

Many American Conservatives were highly pleased with the “success” of Rush’s Operation Chaos, the attempt to keep the race between Hillary and Barack going for as long as possible, the theory being that the longer they were able to snipe at one another the less successful they would ultimately be in the general election, and the more time the Republican challenger would have to gain traction. It was my belief at the time that this was a terrible mistake, based on three factors:

  • It wrongly gave the American people the impression that the real race to succeed George Bush was actually between Hillary and Barack and that once that was over, all that was left was the inauguration.
  • ANY Coverage is good coverage; the media feeding frenzy that surrounded the Clinton/Obama runoff was priceless, especially for a virtually unknown candidate like Obama.
  • The Republican candidate has shown that he is singularly incapable of “gaining traction” by himself. He and the Republicans have not yet realized what must be obvious: HE ONLY LOOKS GOOD BY COMPARISON TO THE ALTERNATIVE!
