Obama to Meet With Loretta Lynch This Week To Craft Gun Control Executive Orders

President Obama announced on Friday that he plans to meet with Attorney General Loretta Lynch next week to discuss how he can once again bypass Congress and the will of the American people, this time focusing on gun control.

According to Politico, Obama wants to expand the number of small scale sellers required to be licensed and conduct background checks by changing the definition of what it means to be a firearms dealer and “engage in the business of” selling firearms.

It is unknown exactly how the language will be changed, but there has been speculation that it may include recommendations from the organization Everytown For Gun Safety, which promotes adding components to the definition such as: selling guns in their original packaging, reselling a gun within a certain amount of time after obtaining it, keeping a certain quantity of guns for sale in their possession, or selling more than 25 guns a year.

He also is planning stricter rules for reporting guns that are lost or stolen on their way to a buyer.

This is the very same administration that allowed the gunwalking of 1,400 firearms into Mexico and then lost track of those guns, two of which were found at the scene of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry’s murder.

This is also the very same President who hid behind executive privilege to protect his right hand man in charge of that operation, Attorney General Eric Holder, from being investigated further or prosecuted for his action, or inaction.

And now, after doing everything he could to prevent his own officials from being held accountable for essentially losing guns (even worse- after watching these guns fall into the hands of criminals and doing nothing to stop it), he wants to strengthen these rules on reporting lost or stolen guns.

How convenient to have such power and privilege.

Further, last I checked, criminals by definition do not follow the law, so requiring smaller scale sellers to perform background checks will likely do next to nothing to stop gun violence.  Even Politico notes that this wouldn’t close the so-called “gun show loophole.”

And even though gun control proposals have come and gone through Congress in the last few years, failing to pass and with opposition in both parties, Obama isn’t concerned with petty things like the Constitution, or the setup of checks and balances in government.  He wants what he wants, and just like immigration reform, he will bypass whatever he needs to in order to get it.

But let’s be honest, Obama is primarily concerned about keeping up appearances, and for the rabid gun control activists who usually aren’t all that well informed, it will appear as if he is doing something substantial.

Spoiler alert: he isn’t.
