In more recent times, the IRA turned to political negotiation and gradually have purged out the violent and lawless elements, but in the bad old days, it's hard to avoid putting on the terrorist label on the IRA. And families like the Kennedys had not compunction about supplying money for weapons and bombs to carry out these violent actions. And charge the government of Northern Ireland with committing genocide is totally "out of touch". They have led a hard, complicated, but ultimately noble campaign against an oppressive foreign force hell-bent on annihilating their culture and country - if anything, it's analogous to the US' campaign in Iraq/Afghanistan. Even moreso the American colonies' struggle for independence, for obvious reasons. Maybe I misinterpreted what you meant, though. He went from a failed official to a cult hero over night. How fickle are the American people. Does anyone agree or am I just imagining this? And by the way do you remember this?
