not morally equivalent to the present wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, for example. 50 million abortions have occurred since Roe vs Wade in the U.S. alone, which far exceeds the number of men and woman who have died in combat. There is a clinic near where I live which performs 400 abortions per week. That's just one clinic in one city. It happens to be the busiest clinic in the city, but let's think about all the clinics all over the United States and do the math. Abortion is the gravest evil facing us, and should influence our vote.

As an aside, the priest in the parish where dad attends mass voted for Obama, and dad has stopped attending mass there. The priest constantly uses frases like "social justice" which sounds so nice, but he doesn't reference christian responsibility. He makes it more of a political matter than one of christian charity. Socialists are everywhere, including the Catholic Church.

You're muddying the waters applying an aka to political/theological liberals--I assume, although you allusion leaves me wondering--when the actual individuals in the group whose moniker you used are strongly conservative theologically, and would certainly tend heavily toward political conservatism as well.

In what circles is that aka used in that manner?

but I hasten to point out what you write here is not Catholic doctrine but, rather, an interpretation of what you think the doctrine should be. The actual position of the Church can be found here and it is a lot less cut and dried than you state.

34. Catholics often face difficult choices about how to vote. This is why it is so important to vote according to a well-formed conscience that perceives the proper relationship among moral goods. A Catholic cannot vote for a candidate who takes a position in favor of an intrinsic evil, such as abortion or racism, if the voter’s intent is to support that position. In such cases a Catholic would be guilty of formal cooperation in grave evil. At the same time, a voter should not use a candidate’s opposition to an intrinsic evil to justify indifference or inattentiveness to other
important moral issues involving human life and dignity.

35. There may be times when a Catholic who rejects a candidate’s unacceptable position may decide to vote for that candidate for other morally grave reasons. Voting in this way would be permissible only for truly grave moral reasons, not to
advance narrow interests or partisan preferences or to ignore a fundamental moral evil.

The problem is not all Catholics have only one religion...some have a second religion...secular socialism...some believe the minion media...
Some are weak and vote as told by a union or a buddy or a TV personality.
Demonizing Bush and Repubs 24-7 for 7 years reaches the weak.

I personally had no family or extended family member vote for Xerxes.

The Catholic church should have kicked out Teddy, Kerry, Pelosi and some others LONG ago (aka the Jews 4 Jesus equals).

Now post an article explaining to us why a MAJORITY of American jews support a secular socialist (aka democrat) Party that fails Israel over and over...blames Israel over and over?

Knock yourself out on that one.
