Hillbuzz reported that Secretary Gutierrez has endorsed McCain. Gutierrez is a former chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Kellogg Company and is a good example of American Dream for hispanic immigrants. Here is the link.
However, Secretary Gutierrez is somewhat tied to the unpopular Pres. Bush. In addition, it may be too late already. In the case of New Mexico, Obama has lead above the margin of error. But I do not know how influential Sec. Guttierez still is to the hispanics, knowing that Governor Richardson has been most covered hispanic political figure in the last 12 months.
Nonetheless, my instinct tells me that the hispanics still have the highest regard and respect for Secretary Gutierrez. And it doesn’t matter whether the endorsement seems to be “late”. There are still more than 24 hours for the hispanics to learn of Sec. Gutierrez’ endorsement of McCain and reconsidere their decision.
My take:
Silly me! I’ll just pray that all hispanics out there shall listen to Sec. Gutierrez. In times like this, we say that “it’s not over until it’s over.”
