Michigan liberals attack Lansing congregation in the middle of Sunday worship

Cross-posted on Right Michigan at www.RightMichigan.com.

This is what we’re up against.

On Sunday morning, amidst worshiping congregants and following unifying prayers that our President-elect be granted wisdom as he prepares to lead our nation through difficult global, social and economic challenges, the Michigan left declared open war on peaceful church goers.

They did it with banners, chants, blasphemy, by storming the pulpit, by vandalizing the church facility, by potentially defiling the building with lude, public, sex acts and by intentionally forcing physical confrontations with worshipers.

This didn’t take place in some dystopian, post modern work of fiction and it didn’t take place in San Francisco or Berkley.  This was the scene at a Bible believing church in Lansing, Michigan.

Read on…

I returned home myself yesterday, from church and an afternoon watching football with the family, to find an email in my inbox from a friend in the Capitol City.  Isn’t surprising to see her name in the inbox as she and I often compare notes on our Sunday services.

Truth be told, I’ve done my best over the last year to start a friendly little rivalry with her.  My church is better than hers, I insist, and I have been known to tell her why. Hers is superior to mine, she reminds me, and lists the reasons.  (I admit I’m maybe a tad hyper-competitive, but my church really is the best in the world.)  Yesterday’s email began with an understated proclamation; “So church today was exciting…”

On  Sunday, November 9, 2008 Michigan liberals sat peacefully through announcements, worship and prayer for the sick, our nation and our President-elect before staging a coordinated, disgusting and repulsive attack on worshipers and the broader concept of the church itself at Lansing’s Mount Hope Church.

The lefties were a part of a liberal organization known as Bash Back Lansing and their collection of radical blogs, including one of the state’s most widely read “mainstream” progressive blogs (and none which will receive a link on this website) called on “queers and trannies” from across the state and the region to converge on Lansing for what they refer to as an “action.”  While many of the members claim to be anarchists (they drove on roads, ate non-garden grown foods, printed materials on products created by government protected free markets, wore clothing, talk incessantly about “organization,” etc etc etc) their broader goal is stated plainly on one of their lefty blogs.

“I can tell you that we are targeting a well-known anti-queer, anti-choice radical right wing establishment.”

Mount Hope, for the record, is an evangelical, bible believing church whose members provide free 24 hour counseling, prayer lines, catastrophic care for families dealing with medical emergencies, support groups for men, women and children dealing with a wide variety of life’s troubles, crisis intervention, marriage ministries, regular, organized volunteer work in and around the city, missions in dozens of countries across the globe, a construction ministry that has built over 100 churches, schools, orphanages and other projects all over the world and an in-depth prison ministry that reaches out, touches and helps the men and women the rest of society fears the most.  They also teach respect for all human life and the Biblical sanctity of marriage as an institution between one man and one woman.

This is what Michigan liberals label a “radical right wing establishment,” and over 30 of them showed up in force yesterday.  Wearing secret-service style ear pieces and microphones they received the “go” from their ringleader and off they went.

Prayer had just finished when men and women stood up in pockets across the congregation, on the main floor and in the balcony.  ”Jesus was gay,” they shouted among other profanities and blasphemies as they rushed the stage.  Some forced their way through rows of women and kids to try to hang a profane banner from the balcony while others began tossing fliers into the air.  Two women made their way to the pulpit and began to kiss.

Their other props?  I’ll let them tell you in their own words… from another of their liberal blogs:

“(A) video camera, a megaphone, noise makers, condoms, glitter by the bucket load, confetti, pink fabric…yeh.”

The video camera they put to good use as they attempted to provoke a violent reaction.  The image of the pink-clad folks above is one of theirs, stating in a picture worth more than a thousand words the goals of the Michigan left.

The “open minded” and “tolerant” liberals ran down the aisles and across the pews, hoping against hope to catch a “right winger” on tape daring to push back (none did).  And just in case their camera missed the target, they had a reporter in tow.  According to a source inside the church yesterday there was a “journalist” from the Lansing City Pulse along for the ride, tipped off about the action and more interested in getting a story than in preventing the vandalism, the violence and anti-Christian hatred being spewed by the lefties.  We’ll see what he files and what his editors see fit to print.

Props were readily on display too, though some of the condoms may have been put to even more nefarious use.

An hour after police and security had collected and removed who they thought were the last of the liberals, a volunteer security person discovered two more, hiding, together, in a public restroom.  While their compatriots engaged in openly violent protest in front of everyone these two snuck away to stage their own protest of sorts, and only by the grace of God did one of the hundreds of kids at the church not happen upon that particular restroom in those moments.

The church’s response?  After things settled down, the blasphemy ended, the lude props removed and the families safe from fear of additional men and women running into and past them the pastor took the stage and led the congregation in one more prayer… not for retribution, or divine justice or a celestial comeuppance (that’s what I’d have prayed for) but instead that the troubled individuals who’d just defiled the Lord’s house, so full of anger and hate, would know Jesus’ love in their lives and God’s peace that exceeds human understanding.

Yesterday morning defined the difference between a church of believers and Michigan liberals.  It also illustrated in shocking, painful detail precisely what we’re up against.

Embarrassing

reldim (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 3:14PM EST (link)

This is just further proof that the gay Left is not about equality but enforced acceptance and imposing its own will on those who are unwilling to allow them to do whatever they want whenever they want.

As a gay man, people like this are an embarrassment and only serve to highlight for the rest of the world why they do not deserve to be extended special privileges and only serve to hold back the majority of gay people who lead regular lives as functioning and understanding members of their communities.

And then they wonder why people vote for measures like Prop 8 and the Arkansas adoption ban – would you want to entrust kids to these animals?

This would not happen in Texas

What is the law in Michigan? Can they be arrested for something?

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Thinking more about it...

…usually the leftys try to provoke a response of fear or violence.

I think in this instance – laughing out loud at the ridiclious
circus would have probably been a response they did not expect. Imagine how they would have felt if everyone was laughing, smiling and pointing at the performers.

I know it was not funny but to combat people like this extreme measures must be taken. Set up security cameras and next time they take the stage they will be seen on the 7:00 News.

First of all, this isn’t an “attack” it’s a protest. Is it disruptive? Certainly. But no harm came to anyone, other than to the peacefulness of the day.

Second, “vandalism”? Where? When? Heard no report of how the premises were damaged or defaced. Yeah, maybe desecrated by those morons in the bathroom, but that’s not in the realm of the spiritual, not the empirical.

Third, when the right-wing churches fund anti-gay initiatives like Prop 8 and the worst, they invite this sort of mischief (and mischief it was). If anyone was injured or any property was damaged, I’d be upset, but this was a mostly harmless prank with a sense of humor.

So long as the religious right feels the need to interfere with civil rights, they cannot expect the sympathy or respect of those they have none for.

Vandalism etc

RightMichigancom (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 8:03PM EST (link)

Littering the auditorium with thousands of blasphemous fliers, pulling fire alarms and jury-rigging banners onto walls IS vandalism.

When “protesters” force their way past men and women and children, colliding, forcing physical confrontations, that is, by definition, violent.

Mount Hope has nothing to do with Prop 8.

I think I covered all of your pro-radical-lefty apologies…

Interesting, too, that you didn’t denounce a single one of their acts. Guess that sort of behavior’s OK with you? C’mon now.

You have some pretty low standards for what constitutes violence and vandalism, so low a hemophiliac would laugh them off. There is nothing they did there that inflicted lasting damage or injury, and until you post a report of such, I’ve got nothing much to denounce, save the sex in the bathroom (that’s a protest foul).

They may have had nothing to do with Prop 8 proper, but I seriously doubt they are innocent bystanders in the greater culture war.

OF COURSE! It was the *churches *fault. And I am sure America deserved 9/11, etc, etc.

People like you are beyond gutless. You go to places where decent people congregate, try to incite them, do your best to film it, fall down like a weenie French soccer player regardless of what happens, then do it again.

You are exactly right when you say I have a firm grip on what constitutes violence, and I am telling you that the time is soon coming where people are going to get seriously hurt or killed pulling this crap.

You guys want anarchy? Pray that you don’t get it.

Dauntus, you add nothing here. This comment proves that your intent is merely to taunt and bait like some newly sophmore at a football game. To add to that, what you don’t know about places of faith is staggering.

And yes, I will be happy to refer you to some passages in the Old Testament that your little buddies may be finding out about soon.

Civil rights? How about freedom of association, for starters?

Finrod (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 8:56PM EST (link)

You’ve got an awful selective view of ‘civil rights’ when you call denying someone else’s freedom of religion and freedom of association a ‘protest’.

If they want to protest, there’s a public sidewalk and road where they can do all the protesting they want, and they can make every point out there that they could make inside the church. The moment they step onto church property and start behaving there in ways than what is considered acceptable there, with deliberate aforethought, they are abridging the freedom of association of the members there, denying them the free exercise of their civil rights, and no weasel words on your part can change that fact.

And furthermore, your presumption that rights for gays are a ‘civil rights’ argument won’t fly here. Nor will it fly in the black community– while 97 percent of blacks voted for Obama nationally, 70 percent of California blacks voted for Prop 8. I’d like to see you try to explain the concept of gay civil rights to them.

Let’s get down to brass tacks here. How much for the ape?

No innocent bystanders?

Next93 (Diary) Monday, November 10th at 9:46PM EST (link)

So a church full of fundamentalists who disaprove of the gay lifestyle is “guilty” in the great cultural war simply because they’re on the other side?

Does that mean that all gay people are “guilty” of the murder of Anthony Martinez?

Obama was The One in 2008.

  • If someone is dead already, indicating permanent damage? Threat is just nothing?
  • If someone is raped already, indicating permanent damage? Sex in the bathroom of a church is only “foul” or bad taste?

No, such act incites a bigger social conflict because of the emotional/psychological “fear” it has created to the minds of the community it has assaulted.

Michigan has a statute on the books, defining a disorderly person, which certainly seems to cover these “protesters”. And most municipalities have an ordinance covering “creating a disturbance”, which also covers these idiots.
And you seem to have no concept of private property. Congregants also have a right assemble peacefully to worship and not have that peacefulness destroyed by hate mongers.

**Relax, people. Little piggies like Dauntus are a dime a dozen. They need to belong so they latch on to any passing movement. Dauntus just latched onto a bowel movement.

Without a doubt, the little piggies picked a church to harrass because they felt safe doing so among people who make a habit of forsaking violence for peace. Eventually, they will seek bigger thrills and end up in places where it will be very bad for them.

There are bigger fish to fry. And we can use the little piggies to help. Ah, the irony. These incidents should be brought up without fail. Then, we need to have the media ask Obama why he is not doing anything about it. Obama not doing anything about it, will greatly help the world to see how far left he intends to “rule.” We have to bring him out of the closet and groups like those who attacked the church service will help a great deal.

In the meantime, take solace in the fact that these are people who are easily spoon fed ideas, oh, and Kool-Aid.

It is indeed an extreme outrage

SirGladiator (Diary) Tuesday, November 11th at 4:19PM EST (link)

What these people have done in a house of God is an outrage beyond words. It is also an outrage that this unbelievably heinous act was not reported widely, because indeed if ANYONE on our side had done anything one TENTH as bad to one of their groups that person would be in jail right now, and everybody in America would know their name, indeed all Christians would be blamed for that one person’s actions. Yet there is no blame from the media for a large group of evildoers actions, because the anti-Christian liberal media isn’t remotely interested in being fair. It’s a shame, but the good news is that God is very much interested in justice, and indeed it is by His grace that more of us haven’t been victimized by these vile human beings. We can only hope and pray that He continues to protect us from such evil in the future, and that He will show these people the error of their wicked ways. It goes without saying that we must never let them win, never let them silence our voices or intimidate us into submission. We will continue to stand up for God, and to support that which is right and oppose that which is wrong, regardless of the attacks from the forces of evil.

Characterizing the entire “gay left” as these bunch of goons, doesn’t do anybody any good. Like you said, none of your gay or lesbian friends act like this, and in my experience also, they just want to be left alone like everyone else to live their own lives. Smearing all gays like this is just like saying that all of us pro-lifers are like those crazies that bomb abortion clinics or stand outside yelling hateful things at the scared teenagers who feel they have nowhere else to turn.

We can all agree that this was an immature and offensive act, but there is no need to demonize the entire “gay left” community by doing so.

Civil rights

Beaglescout (Diary) Tuesday, November 11th at 11:43PM EST (link)

The only civil rights being violated were those of the church members. They have the first amendment right to practice their religion. The queer activists from Michigan were not harmed by Proposition 8 in California. They were simply engaging in a conspiracy to deny civil rights to Christians in Michigan. RICO anyone? Besides which, Proposition 8 was a clear case of “petitioning the government for redress of grievances” while the queer activist harassment did not engage the government at all, only innocent Christians.

Grace, forgiveness, prayer, honor, nobility of character, integrity…these are stuff this country was built on. The church acted correctly and honorably. They turned the other cheek.

Want to see a real movement? Brazenly, boldly, and unapologetically repeat this behavior 1000s and 1000s of times nationwide. Which “movement” will draw more hope?

Calling these guys “michigan liberals” is a little like calling Rev. Phelps’ family “christian conservatives”. Bash Back is the mirror image of the Phelps congregation — a small alienated group of whackadoodles.

If the gay rights movement had any sort of public relations sense (but they do not), they would denounce Bash Back.

Bash Back should be watched carefully by the FBI to make sure they are not evolving into a terrorist group. But they should not be allowed to trigger further violence, because they are a bunch of losers who do not represent any sizeable body of opinion.
