Michelle Laxalt, Republican Strategist, on MSNBC 9via rushlimbaugh.com):
I think that you’re seeing an internecine warfare that started between Cheney and Powell over policy differences many years ago, you’re seeing inside ball. I couldn’t disagree more with Rush Limbaugh, excuse me very much, I don’t think he has been elected even dogcatcher as yet and as a Republican, I don’t want him as part of my party.
If anyone can show me where any conservative has ONCE said they didn’t want anyone as part of their party, I’d like to see it.

Steve Maley
Actually Powell said he didn't want to be part of the GOP when...

“Michelle D. Laxalt is recognized as one of the most prominent and effective government relations practitioners in the nation’s capital. In fact, “Washingtonian” magazine named her one of the top 50 lobbyists in a town where lobbying has become a major industry. She was the first Republican woman to form her own consulting firm in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Laxalt formed The Laxalt Corporation in 1984 and has represented prominent clients whose business interests include international trade, labor law, intellectual property law, oil and gas, federal taxes, tort reform, regulation of tobacco and other important issues that come before the legislative and executive branches of government. In her role as a government relations consultant, Ms. Laxalt offers clients strategic advice on how to navigate the sometimes treacherous waters of the national government.”
Republican “strategist” is a treason media meme employed to disguise her true identity as a (statist political hack) lobbyist.
“… They’re connected because often the political contributions open the door that allow the lobbyist in. The check by itself doesn’t have written on it the agenda. It’s the lobbyist that follows those contributions that brings the agenda.”
Larry Noble
“Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any farther obedience, and are left to the common refuge which God hath provided for all men against force and violence.”

Understood, but aren't these the people
Right Reason (Diary) Wednesday, June 10th at 7:35PM EST (link)we’re constantly being told we have to woo in order to win at the ballot box?
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
- Winston Churchill
No, they're (Laxalt, Brooks, Colin Powell et al) the ones telling us that we (conservatives) have to woo moderates RightReason.
stang (Diary) Wednesday, June 10th at 8:37PM EST (link)Genuine conservatives are anathema to lobbyists and pay for play, careerist, statist Republicans and Democrats alike. SeeTom Coburn or Paul Ryan for example. They are hated by their own party members in Congress for spoiling the “bring home the bacon to get reelected” game.
Laxalt is not a strategist for Republicans, she’s a strategist for her clients. She is not a conservative. She is all about trading campaign contributions (to reelect incumbents she can influence) for favorable treatment of her clients. She will contribute, as will her clients, to anyone who can help them advance their agenda, be they Democrat or Republican. While most of her contributions are to people with an R behind their name, notable Democrats on her list of contributions include Patrick Leahy, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Fritz Hollings, and John Dingell. Uhhh, Republican strategist or influence peddler buying access?
Those who advocate wooing moderates do so in hopes of diluting the conservative message of fiscal discipline and Constitutional governance out of fear of the traction this message is gaining among We the People. Classic divide and conquer. Keep Republicans pitted against one another and the looting of America continues. Allow genuine conservative Republicans (as in follow the Constitution) to become the dominant force in the Republican Party and the whole pay for play scam is likely to come to screeching halt.
The careerist Senators and Representatives are dependent on influence peddling to fill their campaign coffers. Laxalt enables them and will do whatever she needs to do to protect her liveliehood. She is a shill for the political class and could give a rat’s patoot for the taxpaying class.

Her comment is pretty funny if you think about it
bk (Diary) Wednesday, June 10th at 9:08PM EST (link)She’s one of those types who say we need this “big tent” approach – but then turns around and immediately starts listing who’s not welcome into her tent.
These are the people we are supposed to count on for good advice? Pinch me if I was dreaming, but I thought we tried this approach with McCain and it didn’t work out that well.
