It is time to put an end to the joke of Mitt Romney as a front-runner. Mitt Romney is a joke. The man buys his own books, buys the straw poll through his group Evangelicals for Mitt. If there is really an Evangelical for Mitt Romney I would be stunned. Mitt Romney is the least religious, least principled person in the running and that is saying something with Newt Gingrich and Haley Barbour in the running. The Republican party ought rally around real conservatives or else we are going to a lousy moderate again. Mitt Romney does not attack Obama and the agenda, because he believes in it. Anyone of Redstate that prefers Mitt Romney as the nominee in 2010 should be embarassed.
Romneycare is the socialist centerpiece of the People’s Republic of Massachusetts and it is now the basis for Obamacare. Mitt Romney is the most bi-polar politician in politics today. Romney is a progressive republican and not the candidate, we need running for president. If you like Mitt Romney you must like Charlie Crist and Bob Bennett. Romney is one of three Republicans that I don’t want anywhere near the Republican nomination along with Ron Paul and Haley Barbour.
Mitt Romney is spending the fortune trying to win straw polls and buy his book. If he is gaining any traction it is proof that the Republican party has learned nothing and may actually give rise to a split with a conservative tea party. It is Mitt and his supporters that run down Palin, while does not have the courage to go after Obama. Mitt Romney is a coward! Mitt come out of the shadows and prove that you are a conservative and start going after Obama and the Democrats. Maybe I will believe you are conservative and worthy of support when you go to Harry Reid’s hometown or attack the START treaty. No the only thing Mitt Romney can do is have his allies does his bidding running down Palin. Last time it was Huckabee.
Mitt Romney is uncomfortable attacking the Democrats just like McCain. Romney is a gutless republican establishment wimp that lacks the spine to lead anything. Romney is the kind of Republican that RedState has spent years fighting against. I can’t stand anyone talking about this man as a possibly nominee or even a front runner. Mitt Romney believes in nothing and does not defend conservative principles at all. I dislike Mitt Romney almost as much as the Democats. Anyone that supports him has betrayed Conservative principles and American values.
There was unanimous opposition to Obama Romney-care in the Republican party. Now there should be unanimous opposition to Obama Romney in the Republican party and the conservative movement.

Romney isn't going anywhere
JamesSmith130 Monday, April 12th at 11:28PM EST (link)Look at what happened in 2008, the guy had all the advantages, yet got whooped. The main problem for Romney is that he has no real grassroots enthusiasm.
My guess is that the 2012 nominee will not be Romney, Huckabee, or Gingrich, if the nomination is worth anything.
Agreed. He's just a decoy for the yet-to-emerge nominee
6eorge Jetson (Diary) Tuesday, April 13th at 12:08AM EST (link)There’s a lot of fighting to be done in Congress over the next couple of years, and Romney’s not there to do it.
Obama benefited from Hillary being the front runner until it mattered. Romney in the lead has less predictive power than the pre-season college football polls, IMO.
Romney Plays Victim Card
kuksool (Diary) Tuesday, April 13th at 1:46PM EST (link)I just love how Romney supporters play the victim card and accuse Huckabee, of promoting religious bigotry in 2008. People simply vote for candidate they identify with. Rural Evangelicals indentified with Huckabee, thus backed him. Mormons voted for one of their own in Romney. Elderly Veterans backed McCain.
Sure, Huckabee made effective zinglers at Romney, but Romney spent millions in attack ads to trash Huckabee in Iowa too. To me, Romney supporters play the victim card to shield themselves from legitimate criticism about RomneyCare. Much like Michael Steele.
As for 2012, I like Palin & Huckabee, but its time for a fresh face on 2012.
Romney would be a disaster
JSobieski (Diary) Tuesday, April 13th at 1:53AM EST (link)The comparisons between Obamacare and Romneycare would be made repeatedly by Obama, and Obama would actually be telling the truth when he made the statements. Look at Obama when he has mentioned the comparison to Romneycare. He is not at all uncomfortable making the comparison. Romney is Obama’s dream opponent.
Romney is on the record saying that Romneycare is working well–he has defended it too much on the record to back away from that.
The retort of “state level! state level!” is hardly persuasive to anyone, particularly a tea party person who may not care so much about federalism per se. Oppressive government is oppressive government, whether at the state or federal level. State mandates for buying commercial products ain’t my definition of securing freedom with limited government.
Bottom Line: If you want the tea party folks to actually start a third party, Romney would probably be the best way to encourage it. I hope to God it doesn’t come to that . . .
My rules of the road for primary season.
Rule #1: Vote for YOUR first choice in the primaries
Rule #2: Vote for the R in the general.
Rule #3: Don’t let anyone convince you to violate Rule #1 or Rule #2
Rule #4: When in a center-right argument, reaffirm Rules #1-#3–it will help us all to get along better.
Rule #5: If you are using the language of the left, you probably aren’t furthering conservativism
Rule #6: The priority is issues first, candidates second, and supporters third. Nobody is bigger than the issues. Conversely, if you spend your time focusing on supporters, you are wasting everyone’s time.
STOP THE MADNESS!
A reduction in the rate of spending increases is NOT a cut!
In-state tuition for illegals is NOT amnesty!
Requiring someone to pay their medical bills is NOT an individual mandate!
Reducing tax rates is NOT a tax increase!
Didn't Get Past The First Paragraph
Swamp_Yankee (Diary) Tuesday, April 13th at 7:49AM EST (link)How do you know Romney is the “least religious” person running? He’s a devout Mormon. What does that even mean, the “least religious” person running.
And to go as far as to say that he supports Obama’s agenda is just stupid…. I quit reading after that point
Mitt on the O'Reilly Factor
retiretherinos (Diary) Tuesday, April 13th at 12:30PM EST (link)Mitt Romney is by far the least religious candidate. The man supported abortion until he ran for President! Romney’s agenda pre-2005 was anti-family and anti-life. The man is unprincipled and gutless.
Romney believes in man-caused global warming. Mitt is for Big Government and is ok with passing the Bill on to the states. Romney like Obama does not really support the 2nd and the 10th amendments. Romney is more of a progressive than even John McCain. Mitt Romney was silent on the stimulus, while real conservatives were against it. Romney supported TARP. Romney is not a fiscal conservative and obviously not a social conservative.
Mitt Romney squirmed on the O’Reilly Factor. His performance was embarassing. Romney could not defend his Romneycare. He is no conservative that is for sure. Mitt Romney is not even an expert on economics. Give me someone like Paul Ryan on economics and not a guy that buys companies and fires people.
G'bye
