Obama appoints Michigan Governor Granholm to Economic committee

The Matt Millen of Governors will screw you all like she screwed Michigan

We now have an economic team to screw the country like they screwed Michigan. Of all the individuals that could be picked to Obama’s economic team, we have this:

From the Detroit Free Press

WASHINGTON — Gov. Jennifer Granholm and former U.S. Rep. David Bonior will serve on a panel of financial luminaries and corporate experts advising President-elect Barack Obama on the nation’s hard-bitten economy, ensuring Michigan, its troubled auto industry and labor has a seat at the table.

That’s right. The Matt Millen of Governors (Former Lions GM) Jennifer Granholm.
That’s about as smart as appointing Ted Nugent to PETA’s board of directors. What the hell was he thinking? Granholm’s legacy on the economy are service tax increases, business tax increase, sin taxes, income taxes, tax shifts, fee increases, surcharges, unemployment, people leaving the state, debt, big government regulation, a push for a gas tax, pork projects for a $116 million dollar state police building, and government picking winners and losers.

This country and state voted for Obama, so don’t complain to me. It’s time for you to assume the position! “Thank you sir, may I have another!”

As the Motorhead classic song Dogs goes

Here we are in the years
The blood, the sweat, the tears
Have made us bondage slaves
In a world that we never made,
The politicians lick our bones,
The tacticians, hearts of stone
They turn us against our brothers
Make us fight and kill each other
Locked in lust we put our trust in dogs

Here we are again,
The dead still look the same
Who cares they’re soon forgotten
Nobody gonna miss a corpse that’s rotten
Your fathers, mothers, daughters, sons
Have been taken by the chosen ones
But don’t you forget you made the choice,
You made your mark, you raised your voice,
They’re all the same, you’re all to blame
You’re dogs!

Yes, I blame the voters. They’re dogs.

Heh. The good news just keeps on coming.

Not just stupid, scary

I live in Michigan and know that it has been in a one state depression even before this year’s market meltdown. I shudder to think what Granholm will advise. She is strongly pro-union in a strong pro-union state. It is worse than just high taxes. She will probably prescribe increased unionization through card check and protectionism. Nothing can kill an economy like a good international trade war.

Granholm did so much good for the Michigan economy

Of course she would be promoted to the national level where incompetence and lack of accountability are Olympic sports.

I don’t know what’s worse: Jennifer Granholm or the Michigan voters who reelected her. I guess all those useless Jeff Daniels commercials they paid for with their taxes were worth it.

We all knew Obama was going to raise our taxes. Sounds like Granholm is a pro.

Just a great line on so many levels, Rep_MI!

Not just Granholm

To be fair Granholm is as much a symptom of Michigan economic problems as a cause. Michigan is stuck in a heavily pro-union mindset. The majority of the voters just can’t figure out why companies would rather locate in states and countries that have lower labor costs. Why won’t they come here for the privilege of getting lower profits from higher union dues and higher taxes?

Exactly,

Kyle. I had neighbors I’ve talked with who are just absolutely dumbfounded that VW, Nissan and Honda chose not to build here. They’re mostly UAW or IBEW workers, and they don’t have clue one as to why a company wouldn’t want to set up shop here in the worker’s paradise.
And the Matt Millen of governors is dead on. Sure glad the people of this state were smart enough to re-elect her, the “and in five years, you’re going to be blown away”, tax-raising, globe-trotting total failure of an effective executive.

Bail out now. If you are under water on your house then this will make you drown. When the socialists are done they will probably kick anyone out of their houses if they have a job left.
Talk about the emperor has no cloths. No brain either.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

You know, every time I heard Jennifer Granholm criticize Sarah Palin, I said (OUT LOUD) — please, please trade places with her. Michigan could surely use a competent governor for a change, couldn’t they? And, it would take awhile for her to eff up the Alaskan economy, as rich as it is (though given enough time, she certainly could do it).

Somehow, I think that being on a panel where she can be disregarded is much safer than appointing her to the Supreme Court, which has been rumored as well. Now, THAT would be a disaster.

Why not before the election?

If Obama had named Granholm as an economic adviser during the campaign McCain would have had much more of a shot at winning Michigan.

Genius! Now THAT'S change

I can believe in!

Because all i have to do is look around this state in which I live, this “pleasant peninsula” to see the change that will overcome the rest of the country.

This state is in shambles. Nobody has money. Nobody has jobs. The housing market is in the tank.

I work for MI Department of Transportation and we all just recently got a memo from the director that we’re facing a funding “crisis” unprecedented in MDOT history. Apparently the budget is a little tight?

This governor has taken an f’ed up state and f’ed it up even worse. Granmole has an approval rating as low as congress.
