M. Speaker:
In the introduction to his epic “Ten Commandments,” Cecil B. Demille asked the question: “Are men the property of the state, or are they free souls under God?”
Congress will fundamentally address that question tomorrow.
Will the federal government order Americans to buy products that government thinks they should buy, and to fine or imprison them if they refuse?
Will it empower a new health Czar to make decisions over the most minute details of every American’s health care?
Will it set loose 16,000 new IRS agents to enforce its edicts?
This vote transcends any questions of health care. It introduces a proposition that will fundamentally alter the relationship between the government and the people for all time.
I pray that my Democratic colleagues, drunk as they may be with power, consider carefully the implications of the action they are about to take.

I have called his office many times on this issue and they have always told me that it hinges on the CBO report. Well the CBO report was in their favor and he waits until the last minute to decide. Jim Matheson has always been a YES vote if needed. Those of us that know him best have known it all along.

Are you an American? Then you are heir to the tradition of Valley Forge, Bastogne and Iwo Jima. You cannot let that tradition be dishonored. Those men faced REAL threats. We face a bunch of wanna-be tinpot dictators.
We have the First Amendment. We have the Second Amendment. We have our honor and we have our shame. They are severely outnumbered. Don’t even consider giving up.
We need to teach these bstrds a SEVERE lesson. We will vote them out in 2010. We will vote them out in 2012. We will pursue legal action against these people for sedition and other things. And then the fun begins. We will dismantle the MSM. We will dismantle the liberal education system, and replace it with something that will be the envy of the world. We will dismantle unions and make America a manufacturing giant again. We will not give up; we will teach these miscreants the same lesson other would-be dictators who have messed with America have learned; you do it at your own peril. And you WILL lose.

Just telling you Matheson’s a yes vote if it will make the difference between pass and fail and a no vote if he can’t change the out come either way. Right now he thinks they have it in the bag and he is running for cover from his yea vote on “deem and pass” Friday and his vote for porkulus.
This guy is a master at covering his true colors and has gotten away with it for years. That and his family name. He continues to fool enough conservatives, my inlaws included, to keep getting re-elected.

Your answer actually seems to grant their premise, that rights come from government, when you say that Congress will consider that question and that they will do X Y and Z to Americans. Why didn’t you or one of your colleagues TELL them, not suggest or ask them to consider, that this is NOT their right?
I’m sorry, and I say this with respect, but this genteel and pliable attitude that the Republicans that extend to Democrats is one reason the country is dealing with these power drunk people.
