Democrats Underestimate the American People Once Again

Clearly, the Democrats think they have something here tying together the Republican Party and the Tea Party. However, it seems to me that this political miscalculation is exactly why Congress’ approval rating is at 11%.

What the Democratic Leadership doesn’t seem to understand is that the Tea Party isn’t a political party; it’s a set of ideas shared by the overwhelming majority of Americans.

The Tea Party is made up of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, Constitution Party members, and apolitical Americans.

They are mainstream folks who love our nation and who wish to see America return to policies of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and strictly adhere to our Constitution. After all, these are the fundamental principles of our founding and represent the character of America.

For the Democrats to portray these fundamental principles as radical and a hindrance to public policy shows just how far out of touch they are from the political pulse of this country.

I hope the Democrats’ latest messaging campaign reaches far and wide because it will do nothing but distance them further from Main Street America.

You're right, Barbara, the Dems. don't know what the tea party is

renny (Diary) Thursday, July 29th at 4:38PM EST (link)

The Dems. keep announcing how they are going after the tea parties and the leaders, but they don’t seem to “get” that there is no national elected tea party leader, no pol. shill like Van Jones or Axelrod or any other head of the typical “Americans for Peace, Liberty, and Marxism” that the left concocts all the time exists, and they are targeting ghosts.

But let them rail. Let them run ads against the tea party. The more money they spend ranting about the tea parties the better. They will just offend more than they already have the senior citizens, small business people, and everyone’s next-door neighbor who consider themselves part of the tea party and send them more determined than ever to vote Rep./cons. in Nov.

Democrats are looking for a fixed target..

But they can’t see the forest for the trees…
Michele, we would like some contact information for the new caucus
Keep up the fine work.

Exactly right Rep B.

Everyone I’ve spoken to about the DNC attempt at mocking the Tea Party (which is the DNC’s attempt to mock the American people) is back-firing right in their face.

The DNC has already been deemed irrelevant by most. For those who knew about this mockery list I’ve heard comments like “Obama and the Dems have a ten-point Contract With Alinsky.”

The way I see it, the Tea Party has a commitment to the American people and I am proud to part of it. The Obama Administration and the Dem Congress have a commitment to Socialism. This is becoming clearer everyday with the dozens of judicial activist legislating “from the bench” and now BLATENTLY subverting the Constitution.

The Tea Party Caucus is clearly the cornerstone of what is needed in the GOP. This caucus should attract the highest quality Republicans and it seems to be doing that. The only people who are attacking it are either the Dems, because they know it is good for the GOP, or Republicans who live their life directed by the Huffington Post, David Frum, or Kathleen Parker. Both of these entities will be gone very soon. The quality Republicans will Caucus with the Tea Party Caucus.

Great job Rep. B. Keep going and don’t stop

I really love ya, but it remains to be seen if the Democrats have miscalculated.

It seems to me that they are getting their way on nearly everything and will redouble their efforts in the lame duck session if they lose one of the houses.

The result of their laws will be to get even more people hooked on the government, and to create many new “instant” citizens who will vote for them.

I have no doubt that the Republicans will win big in November, but. Everything in our future depends on whether those Republicans will have the guts to actually seek to undo and repeal what has happened in these two years.

My fear is that they will revert to type and try to “finesse” the liberal agenda, so that it becomes entrenched.

That way lies a permanent end to conservatism in this country for a generation.

Republicans not so much. The elected elites of BOTH parties will not REFORM or RETURN to CONSTITUTIONAL Government. Mark my words, only SEVERE pressure will influence the Republicans or the NRA for that matter. Donate DIRECTLY to the Candidates you support, and do not neglect the State Governors and Legislature where the Federal Beast can be corralled.

If Reps. take the House, they need not repeal all o's machinations

renny (Diary) Thursday, July 29th at 6:06PM EST (link)

but they can defund or simply not fund them.

If the IRS needs another few thousand to administer “it is not a tax” Obamanationcare, Reps. have to cut the IRS budget so it cannot pay the drones to administer the non-tax that the feds. in FL are fighting against the states for is a tax.

For the recent financial abnomination, the same. Don’t increase, or actually decrease, the SEC budget to not include any new strangulation of the nations’ financial institutions.

They have to try and get rid of them or at least

kyle8 (Diary) Thursday, July 29th at 6:31PM EST (link)

neuter them. Defunding will only open the door to Democrats when they get back into power.

They also have to be proactive and not just reactive. Present new legislation for all the things we know work, Federalism, secure borders, lower taxes, medical savings accounts, and school choice.etc.

as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, but the idea of believing one’s own BS really needs to be factored in as well.
And what is amazing is that the BS never really changes from decade to decade; different variables are simply transplanted to fit the season.

I bought an old Rolling Stone magazine a few months ago because Warren Zevon was on the cover. There was article on the MX Missile that could have been published virtually word-for-word in the late 80′s with regard to the anti-ballistic Missile System, or in the 90′s or 00′s with regard to whatever the military hot-button issue du jour happened to be. Needless to say, the Republican warmongers were going to bring about the end of the world with their feckless disregard for human life, and if we would only give [enemy] a fair hearing, men of well-meaning would come to a solution.

Granted, the Tea Party phenomena is a modern one. But the Left’s knee-jerk reactions are not restricted by era, and are beyond predictable — they are
pre-programmed.

I will go even further than that

kyle8 (Diary) Thursday, July 29th at 10:54PM EST (link)

I have a great big book that is made up of newspaper articles from the last century. I only got to 1911 right now. The things being discussed, the problems and the proposed solutions were all the same as now.

Terrorism, socialism, unions, immigration, the list goes on and on.

(and it was not hard to pick out the left from the right in those arguments.)

Maybe it was that smug hipster vibe that RS had and (somehow) still has, but it was a jarring realization that the article was so devoid of true content that it could be transposed from decade to decade, potentially.

But I guess propaganda is timeless, in its way, as it appeals to Feeling as opposed to Intellect.

Forget about 2014 for now. 2012 may define Obama’s run. If unemployment stays at 10%, there will be more turnover than anybody imagined.

However, I hope we see 9.5% and a trend downward.

Unemployment numbers are always a guess,

NoDoze Friday, July 30th at 11:52AM EST (link)

and it is politicians who are making the guess for their own benefit. True unemployment includes all able-bodied people who could be working, but aren’t, for whatever reason of disability or disinclination.

I suspect that if we could calculate the real unemployment rate, it would be closer to 30%, maybe even higher.

It seems to be so easy for the propagandists to distract us away from the real situation.

Why couldn't someone do a national poll

to find what the real unemployment numbers are?

"...the Tea Party isn't a political party..."

gamechange11two Thursday, July 29th at 8:52PM EST (link)

It is now, at least in Michigan. It seems democrat operatives have established a “tea party”. In districts where incumbent dems are being challenged by strong republicans for state seats, “tea party” candidates are appearing on the ballot.

Check it out for yourself.

http://americandaily.com/index.php/article/4176

Word is the candidates will even have the Gadsen flag insignia next to their names for easy identification.

I’m thinking a picture of a snake in the grass would be the appropriate logo.

The new trick

creditman Thursday, July 29th at 8:56PM EST (link)

The trick will be to plant the tea party in the churches. When this happens it becomes part of one’s faith. This is infinitely more powerful than some party’s political belief.

It won’t be long before the church is under assault. This is where collectivism falls down. The church affirms one’s beliefs. This is antithetical to the state.

We may see a rise in “the Black Robe Regiment” or something like that. I’m referring to a group of pastors that preached for revolution during the revolutionary war.

The Tea Party in Three Words

TheWiz Friday, July 30th at 6:36AM EST (link)

The MSM and Democrats can say what they want, but the inescapable truth is that the Tea Party is the “Conscience of America”! Thank you Rep. Michele Bachmann for starting the House Tea Party Caucus where the Congress can meet the “Conscience of America” up close and amicably.

The Dem strategy may be

NoDoze Friday, July 30th at 12:05PM EST (link)

to drive wedges between the Tea Parties, and the establishment Republican squishes. That would take the pressure off the Leftist Republicans to include TP members and candidates, or spend any money helping TP-backed candidates get elected.

It's about the debt

davecatbone (Diary) Friday, July 30th at 8:26AM EST (link)

Our Tea Party movement will amount to nothing. Unless there is political will to slash government, I mean wholesale elimination of entire parts of our government to reduce our debt, we will witness the collapse of the dollar and the mother of all depressions. While I am repulsed by the Paulbot cultists, Ron Paul understands the debt crises. Does the GOP?

Swat to the backside

doncorleone Friday, July 30th at 8:35AM EST (link)

Progressives don’t understand or like strict parenting. As much as I loathed at the time how strict my parents were, wouldn’t trade that real life training for anything now. The Tea party represents that voice that republicans should start listening to, about right and wrong, and what happens to you when you don’t. It’s like the voice I heard in my head when I was deciding between doing what I wanted to do (most of the time, wrong answer), and what I should do, and what would happen to me when I chose poorly. Progressives are like the parents who defend, lie, obfuscate, and blame the teachers, & coaches rather than blame, then discipline their evil, rude, petulant children. Rep. Bachmann and the Tea Party movement is that swat to the backside the republican party needs, so they don’t revert back to the r.i.n.o. exhibit at the d.c. zoo.

It’s a shame that the only thing that motivates a liberal is the possibility of losing their cushy job with all their staff and benefits. It’s not the will or good of the people they serve. To call them “liberals” is way too kind; their character can be summed up in one four letter word: EVIL.

the tea party movement. It is exactly that–a movement that is inspired by principles of less govt less taxation less regulation and more freedom. People who have half a brain know there is NO common ground between tea party and dems. Even a cursory investigation of someone who claims to be tea party will reveal whether or not he espouses the principles of limited govt. The Dems still underetimate American intelligence

"The View" (from on high)

Ned Reck (Diary) Friday, July 30th at 11:40AM EST (link)

Speaking of underestimating the American public… just look at how Mr. Obama perceives the typical American woman.

This is Mr. Obama (earlier this week) talking to the women throughout our great country on “The View”:
“This is not about me… it is about the American people.”

(SSsshhhhhh: what the President is actually thinking about women across this great country of ours as he appeared on “The View”):
“The American ‘female’ is one of the most shallow and gullible species on the face of this earth. All I have to do is show up on The View… and my poll numbers among women across the U.S. will go back up. Today, I am making myself a gift to them.”

The typical response from an American woman who would fall for such a cheap and tawdry ploy:
“AHHH!!… >>SIGH!!<>GASP!!<<
Look! The Messiah has given us this wonderful gift… himself!! President Obama is so magnificent and magnanimous!!”

Guess this lets the American “woman” know exactly where she really stands with our Mr. President. But MOST of the women that I know are more intelligent than Mr. Obama gives credit, present company included.

At this point in time, Mr. O’s charm and 25 cents could not buy a bucket of sand in the Sahara.

That’s my view… from way down here.

You made a big mistake, Ms. Bachmann...

redmissouri Friday, July 30th at 12:00PM EST (link)

by prematurely endorsing the establishment Republican in Missouri over the Tea Party candidate, Chuck Purgason. Blunt’s wife and daughter are lobbyists, and he voted for TARP and Cash for Clunkers. The least you could have done was wait until you saw how the primary turned out. I called your office, and was told by your intern that you were not concerned about the matter.

redmissouri, you're threadjacking here.

janis (Diary) Friday, July 30th at 12:17PM EST (link)

And that is a big no go at RedState. If you don’t agree with Rep Bachmann, write your own diary and state your reasons.

I’m sure Ms. Bachmann is not interested in my diary. I just made a simple, respectful comment, and if that is not allowed, then sue me.

Why no, no you didn't make a "simple, respectful comment..."

janis (Diary) Friday, July 30th at 12:49PM EST (link)

If you were going to make it respectful, then you should have stuck to the main points of the diary and not taken it as your opportunity to take a shot at Rep. Bachmann.

And if, as you say, she’s not interested in your diary, then why did you even bother? I told you what is not allowed here, and that is mere politeness on my part. Keep doing it and someone else will show up and show you the door. Good rules make for good communities.

I was not aware of those rules...

which are in the “Help” section, not the “About” section, I stand by my post. My point was addressing the topic, which spoke about people underestimating the Tea Party, which I believe Ms. Bachmann was perhaps guilty of herself with her endorsement in the Missouri Senate race.

DEMOCRATS UNDERESTIMATE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

Democrats often referred to themselves as the “peoples party”. This is nothing more than a deceptive ploy to gain the confidence and vote of those who are not informed. Democrats have little regard for the well being of the American people, and this is apparent by the bills they’ve passed without the majorities acceptance.
