The vote that will live in infamy

Members of Senator Specter’s staff,

If Republicans get an opportunity to debate some point of the final passage,
please advise Senator Specter not to participate in a vote for cloture.
If a late opportunity to block the final passage through filibuster debate somehow arises, please advise him to avoid cementing his legacy as Pontious Pilate.

One small vote for Arlen, one giant leap into socialism for the US.

because it seems that it is Dems that keep reelecting him. He still enjoys a high favorability rating with Dems in PA. Once the economy tanks and the stimulus doesn’t work, he may be in some trouble, but I’m not hopeful he’ll get booted out because this is the same state that keeps sending Murtha back year after year.

which he earmarked for the NIH- National Institutes of Health, for medical research. I erroneously said this morning that it was $6 million. No- it’s “billion.” And funny that he would earmark money for medical research in light of the fact that the very bill he soldout for is one which backtracks on drug and medical research, and in fact sets everyone up for near future Socialized Healthcare. He sure has used the advances of medical research with his 2 bouts of cancer, brain tumor and heart surgery. Not to be unkind but, I wonder if they got “all” of the brain tumor when they removed it as this vote is not coming from one with alot of right brain thinking.

I heard that a big reason why Snowe, Specter, and Collins voted for the deal the first time was that there were enough Dems voting so that none of the three could be blamed for “casting the deciding vote.” Guess what? Teddy Kennedy is back in Florida, and he’s not coming back up. Now, all three of those would be deciding votes. They’ve seen the fury of their constituents on this. They know that 2010 is going to be tough for them if they vote for final passage of this. I’d be willing to wager the odds of them repeating their vote are 50-50 at best.
