While I vociferously applaud Sen. Wilson’s comment, and valiant attempt at free speech, I think perhaps a better forum might have been in order. Even though I dislike this president’s socialist agenda at the expense of capitalism, and the attitude of his staff and associative media, I do have respect for his office, and the congressional forum. Perhaps we are rising to the parapet of our predecessors in the English House of Commons (not a bad thought), but given that not many watched the president’s speech, Wilson could have reached millions more had he used the conventional media, say, the a.m. talk shows… In short, he has given voice and action to opposing views from the right. I understand Rengal’s dilemma, as well… but don’t forget Dodd’s swetheart deals, too. As a Connecticut resident,….I once offered several opinions to Dodd via email to his office. I was immediately taken aback by the unmitigated arrogance in the replies that confronted me (“…we don’t reply to any emails, we’ll get back to you when we can…”—even though they make it a point to state they have an email address for constituents—they could really give a damn)–and this is a true story…..He lost my vote then and there, and I will continue to do so until he is drummed out of office–not even his recent prostate cancer operation–I’m sorry, but likely a ruse (what everyone here is thinking but so afraid to say)—can garner a sympathy vote among my peers. A senator’s office should be held in highest regard, but Connecticut’s delegation is a laughing spoof, along with CT’s legislature, which mirrors the current Congress.

I think there is a clear strategic goal Speaker Pelosi is pursuing in demanding a House apology from Rep. Wilson. This has nothing to do with House rules or decorum. It has little to do with Obama. The Democrats want Wilson to apologize in front of those house cameras as part of Rob Miller’s campaign next year. This is more about helping Miller than anything else.

and thank you for supporting Joe Wilson. Charlie Rangel isn’t the only Democrat that owes many appologies, how about Harry Reid appologizing to Pres. Bush for calling him a liar and a loser? How about Jack Murtha appologizing to our Marines for calling them cold blooded murderers? How about John Kerry telling our youth to study hard or they will wind up in Iraq? How about Pelosi appologizing for calling some of the American citizens nazis? How about Napolitano appologizing for calling Conservatives right-wing extremists, and putting them on the list of domestic terriorists? How about Obama for running around the world appologizing for the evilness of the greatest nation on earth? How about the first lady saying that she was only proud of the US, after her husband became the rock star of the Liberals?

Please talk to Eric Cantor for me before the vote, and tell him one of his constituients is beginning to wonder if he hasn’t become McCain on training wheels. Please ask him to support Joe Wilson.

which is precisely what Obama is, such bad taste.
What have things come to when a Democrat can’t insult people to their faces, tell them to shut up, lie about the features of different pending bills, and do it all on the floor of Congress. Not that he and others of his party haven’t been doing it for months.

I would suggest that what goes on today in American hospitals across the country every day will, when the wash is hung out and done, continue as usual. The powers that be would not dare anger the appropriate pressure groups and their demented allies in the media.

Why, just imagine what the NY Times would say !

As much as i do appreciate you expressing your displeasure with the way congress is chastizing Joe Wilson while turning a blind eye to Charlie Rangle here on RedState, you can do more. You need to speak to your fellow reps, get them to mention this hypocrisy on every national program you can. Perhaps CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC won’t give you the chance today, but eventually they will have to have members of the opposition party on. Perhaps it will be to talk about the healthcare debate, perhaps about social security, perhaps about cap and trade. But here’s the thing. If each of you just brings it up without being asked first, what can they do? Can they go to commercial? Can they just ignore you? And if they try to ignore you, will the people at home watching not hear your comments and beging to ask questions? Go on Rush, Hannity, Levin, Fox News, Glenn Beck, OReilly. Talk to your local papers. Write editorials. In essence… DO YOUR JOB!!! You see, the general public, the people you represent don’t get a voice on the floor of the house. That is what they have you for. Joe Wilson spoke up. Will you?

I’ve been thinking about this for a while. The Dems want to make an example of Wilson. I’m the type of person who takes being picked on poorly. I hope Wilson is of the same cloth. If he is this is his speech:

“Ladies and Gentleman of the House. I have been summoned here today to apologize. I thought about it a lot. What should a member of the House apologize for? What offense has been committed against the people of this great nation? Then I realized, in fact, an apology was in order, actually many apologizes are in order.

So, let me begin.

I apologize for being part of a body of men and women who have decided to chose politics and power over the good of the people.

I apologize for the members in this body that refuse to talk to or listen to their constituents because those citizens may disagree.

I apologize for members of this body who have taken bribes, graft and paybacks from lobbyists, special interest groups and others.

I apologize for the arrogance of certain members of this body who have the audacity to foist upon the public rules and laws they refuse to follow themselves.

I apologize for the members of this body who take advantage of every perk of the office and are more concerned about staying in power than doing the right thing.

I apologize to the American public for the ease of which your elected representatives lie to you.

I apologize for the members of this body who say you are stupid, liars, Nazis, and storm troopers just because you exercise your God given right to free speech.

I apologize for this body for all of the lies, accusations and attacks it leveled against the men and women of the military, law enforcement and our CIA who risked their lives keeping such ungrateful people like us alive.

Finally, I apologize for this body not having the courage and decency to take a long walk off a short pier and rid this great nation of such a burden as having to deal with a corrupt government which has managed to crawl into every aspect of the citizens’ lives in hopes of controlling them.

I’m sure there are many more apologies, but I can tell by the look on the House leader’s face, my time is up.
