25 Years Since 1984 – How Are We Doing?
George Orwell‘s classic book “1984“ is the story of one man’s pursuit of individuality while living in a totalitarian nightmare: a world dominated by Big Brother, “The Party“, and the Thought Police. If you read the book several years ago, read it again. You will be shocked at the parallels that you can now draw between the book and recent news.
Below are excerpts from the book. As you read them, consider the general differences between the two political ideologies in America:
The Suppression of Independent Thought
Consider the common-sense concerns shared by millions of Americans, but which Washington wishes you to reject: “How can we spend our way out of debt?“ “As America approaches bankruptcy, how can we afford a $1,500,000,000,000 government-run healthcare plan?“ “Will a massive Cap and Trade energy tax crush our economy?“ “What about our unfunded liabilities of $100 trillion?“ see http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124458888993599879.html for more info “Could our exploding money supply create Zimbabwe-like hyper-inflation?“ see http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601110&sid=avgZDYM6mTFA for more info
Ironically, America now has a population of 300 million. And any of those 300 million who are not “thinking the same thoughts“ as the Obama administration are labeled as:
“Racist!“ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms45EzMR0f8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45QMr3pMYVM
“Domestic Right Wing Terrorists!“ http://www.onenewsnow.com/Politics/Default.aspx?id=490506
“Treacherous Leaders!“ http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=108823
“An Angry Mob!“ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtTBkxvBq88
Have you seen the real-time debt clock? “The Party“ would like for you to deny this evidence. http://www.usdebtclock.org/
Is Washington counting on men and women of “paralyzing stupidity”?
Is Washington counting on men and women to swallow the “imbecility“ that they are handing out?
Hurray! The chocolate ration has been “raised“ to 20 grams! Hurray! The cost of the Stimulus Plan was “trimmed“ and “driven down“ from $868 billion to an “almost trifling“$789 billion! http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/12/us/politics/12stimulus.html
The Pursuit of Raw Power
Go back and read it again. Does the “unwillingly“ and “limited time“ language remind you of any current-day power-grab? Here‘s a hint: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJzRfCztcI8&feature=related
No comment is needed for this one. ..
Just as reflected in “1984″, this current administration: - Seems to place a minimal emphasis on wealth-building (they appear less avaricious and less tempted by luxury) - But is hungrier for pure power (as evidenced by the government take-over of financial institutions, the auto industry, and an attempt at the health care industry) - And appears to be intent on crushing the opposition (watch the vicious attacks on those who disagree with this administration)
The Youth
Let‘s remember the incredible spectacle of the White House website calling for people to inform on their friends and family. Obama actually wanted the email address of anyone who was believed to be spreading “dis-information“ on health care.
Obama’s nationwide address to students initially included lesson plans which encouraged students to “write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president.“

A few of the first steps:
The HR 3200 health care bill actually allows for government workers to enter people‘s homes (euphemistically referred to as “home visitation“), and educate parents on “parenting practices.“ See Pg 842-845 of the health care bill: http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h3200ih.txt.pdf

Re-Writing History
“We’re going to have to make sacrifices, we’re going to have to change our conversation, we’re going to have to change our traditions, our history…” -Michelle Obama http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afGz0dzVSIU
The memory of 9/11 has already begun to fade, thanks to our government re-defining it as a “National Day of Service and Remembrance“.
It is the responsibility of every American citizen to ensure that this statement doesn‘t become a reality.
Is this the life we will leave to future generations?
If you don’t have a copy of 1984, I encourage you to buy or order it ($9.99 at Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/1984-Signet-Classics-George-Orwell/dp/0451524934). This book, read in light of current events, demands that we be honest with ourselves.
Read the book and highlight passages that are concerning or seem vaguely familiar. Be aware as you watch current events unfold, and most likely you will begin to see parallels. As stated in an editorial review of the book by Amazon.com, “…Nineteen Eighty-Four is a rare work that grows more haunting as its futuristic purgatory becomes more real… it ranks among the most terrifying novels ever written.“
Americans must stop this Orwellian nightmare from taking root in our country. And we must act before it’s too late. Subjecting our children a future of unimaginable horror, as depicted in this book, is unconscionable.

Excellent, reginagroves. I am going to reread the book.
penguin2 (Diary) Saturday, September 19th at 9:05PM EST (link)Though it is obviously going to make for a depressing read. People never see these things coming until it is ‘almost’ too late.
“if all records told the same tale-then the lie passed into history and became truth.”
That excerpt really stands out to me. Revisionist history writing is going on all the time. Look at the school books of the public schools. Less and less about the founding fathers, and everything about political correctness. Less about the wonderfulness of America, and a constant drum-beat of the expected subservience of America in the world.
Very nice write-up. Scary, but good.

Great Diary!!!
The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.
Excellent Diary!
6eorge Jetson (Diary) Sunday, September 20th at 1:13AM EST (link)Great Diary! It's downright chilling....
clowngirl (Diary) Sunday, September 20th at 1:44AM EST (link)the way Obama has so often revised history as if records of his past statements don’t exist. (For e.g. “I always knew the Surge would bring down violence”)
He went on through half his campaign about how he had urged us not to invade Iraq because we needed to finish the job in Afghanistan. The more he repeated it, the more sure I felt that it wasn’t true. In the text of his famous 2002 speech he doesn’t even mention Afghanistan he talks about the economy and how we needed the money for social programs. I think McCain pointed this out but not enough was made of it. It was a big part of his claim that he had such superior judgement that he was ready to be CinC with no real experience.
What is reallly disturbing is he told the lie so OFTEN and was able to get away with it.
