FROSTY…..

THE SNOWMAN…AND MODERN LIBERALISM
“The Factor” of December 7, 2009 showed a CBS program clip. The clip featured “Frosty the Snowman” trashing the whole concept of the figure being a moral happy symbol of the Christmas (aka winter) season. Frosty had a porn collection and made other inappropriate offensive comments. What viewers must understand is that the modern liberal is a strident member of the secular socialist church. This sort of ugly distortion is wholly intentional.
The modern liberal (aka secular socialist) detests morals, detests people of faith, detests even the intact moral family. Their game is NO boundaries (moral or ethical)…that is how they speak, they act, they vote, they believe. Truth is not a goal and morality simply an obstacle to their total control of your life. They are happiest when they can drain the shame and respect from a culture. Its what they always do.
We, of course, are the low life contented people of faith trying to raise our children away from the harsh secular poison (at least till senior high). The modern liberal prefers vivid sex programs for pre-teens and now this.
We, of course, “just don’t understand”. We are just “way too rigid, way too judgmental” they say.
We understand perfectly and must continue to reject the angry secular socialists (aka democrats, liberals, progressives, yada yada).
Yes, modern liberalism is a mental disorder.

How is Frosty the Snowman related to people of faith?

I mean, I certainly think this is another sign (as if we needed one) of the level of moral decay and acceptable filth in our country, but I don’t understand how you’re drawing any connection between Frosty the Snowman (I have never, for the record, seen enough snow on the ground to make a snowman before late January) and Christmas. I tend to interpret Frosty the Snowman as a lovable symbol of wintertime…but not Christmas.

what's your deal with religion, is it a bane to your existence?

I noticed that the few times I have seen you around you seem to go after themed posts on religion and/or prayer…

Last, what part of NY are you in where you do not get snow until January? Must be NYC and not the rest of NY. I think the city folk mistakingly call it upstate but Plattsburgh is upstate and Albany-Utica are central. Snow starts in October.

oh, wasn't...

santa claus in the cartoon? BTW, I know I tend to come off a little edgy but in the case of my comment above I was just asking.

Nailed me geographically

I’m not actually in NYC, but I’m in the part of the state that we call “upstate” because it’s north of New York City, but everybody who is ACTUALLY upstate thinks is a part of New York City. We get snow in October and November almost every year, but never enough to make a snowman with until January. On the other hand, the snow is kinda crummy and doesn’t pack well here, so we need at least 3-4 inches just to get a decent snowball.

I actually don’t know if Santa Claus was in the original cartoon, I always figured the song came before anything else. I may be mistaken, I haven’t researched it. With THAT being said, I hesitate to ascribe a religious significance to Santa Claus, any more than I ascribe one to the evergreen tree. Or, for that matter, the Easter bunny or little colored eggs.

we had some nice snow in VA...

on Saturday about 3 inches of the wet fluffy type and built a huge snowman out in front.

Thanks, for answering, I was afraid I came off a little too confrontational after I posted the comment. After some of the hard feelings some people have gotten in the last few days I have been trying to be a little more considerate of my comments. Next I think I will try a little bit harder to read my comment before hitting the “post comment” button. :) Well, I haven’t seen you around much so welcome.

Yeah, I've had internet difficulties AND computer difficulties

No worries, you didn’t come off sounding too aggressive, although I suppose it is never a bad idea to reread for style before posting.

I realized I hadn’t answered your question about religion, and I have neither the time nor the space to do so here. The short answer is that I am a humanist republican who is sort of a pariah for many other people in my area (but especially the republicans) because of my humanism. They are the SIVV type, and tend to tie in almost everything with their religion, and so I have a strong aversion to relating things like Frosty the Snowman to Christianity. If I have come across as being unnecessarily rude or condescending toward the diaries I have commented on then I apologize, that was not my intention.

ok...

as I said just curious. I always tend to be of the impression that christianity trickles into many of themes during this time of year (frosty no exception), and old American tales even stories created within the last 100 years have christian undertones. The whole good versus evil, a “special something” (magic) during Christmas etc.

I am a catholic by upbringing though 100% christian in faith but a little lacking in my christian abilities if that makes sense. I still see christianity in the symbology of a lot of things at this time of year no matter how secular they try to make it.

Regarding this diary, as you said it is more a sign of the decline in our culture than a slight against christianity; though for some like myself I am beginning to wonder if it is not just a sign of moral bankruptcy but a lack of the spirituality that once permeated every facet of the american culture. Keep in mind I am not saying anything about forcing faith etc on people, I am just observing the lack of something and the result of the void, nothing more. This witness, has continuously pushed me back to the faith I abandoned during my more naive days. Science and engineer took me away from that in my early 20′s; however, its the same subjects that pushing me back in my 30′s.

Whoops, I think I now may be guilty of a threadjack. sorry reelman.
