Bachmann Supported Public Sector Unions

On the campaign trail, Michele Bachmann likes to claim that she is a true “constitutional conservative”. The truth is, Michele Bachmann is not being honest when she says this. No “constitutional conservative” would support a bill that forces states to give collective bargaining rights to public safety employees, flying directly in the face of the 10th Amendment.

In 2007, Bachmann co-sponsored HR 980, A.K.A. the “Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2007.” What did this bill do? This bill would have given the federal government unprecedented power over the states and their relationship with public employee unions. The bill forced states to give collective bargaining rights t0 public safety employees. It was specifically targeted at Virginia and North Carolina, two states where public safety employees had no collective bargaining rights. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think the federal government has any right to pass a law to target specific state laws. Isn’t this why we have the 10th Amendment, to protect states from the federal government? Apparently the 10th Amendment is one part of the constitution Michele Bachmann chose to ignore. I also think it is important for Michele Bachmann to answer why she opposed an unfunded mandate for health care, but supported one for unions?

Not only was HR 980 unconstitutional, but it would have cost the federal government and various state and local governments millions of dollars. According to the CBO, this bill would have cost the federal government $44 million. It would have put a huge burden on state and local governments already struggling to balance their budgets under a recession and more intrusion of this kind by the federal government.

Sometimes, you can learn all you need to know about a bill based on its supporters and opponents. Who joined Michele Bachmann in supporting this bill? Barack Obama. Ted Kennedy. Barbara Boxer. Hillary Clinton. Sherrod Brown. Bernie Sanders. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. The AFSCME. The AFL-CIO. 99% of House Democrats. Who opposed this bill? Jim DeMint. Steve King. Mike Pence. Americans for Prosperity. The Heritage Foundation. The National Right to Work Committee. And what did Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff have to say about this bill? “[HR 980] represents an unprecedented intrusion into state and local decision making, potentially disrupting our nation’s carefully developed emergency response functions, and raises serious Constitutional questions under the 10th Amendment.” What did the Citizens Outreach Project, a conservative advocacy group, say about this bill? “H.R. 980 is not legislation dealing with public safety or security. It is a raw, blatant pay-off to union officials. Failing to attract members on their merits, unions have turned to their allies in Congress to have government impose them on workers.” Michele Bachmann was one of those union allies.

Supporters of this bill argue that it would have increased public safety. That is simply not the case. The National League of Cities, the National Sherriff’s Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the National Association of Counties all opposed this bill, partly because they felt it would harm public safety, and partially because of the burden it would have on their budgets.

There you have it. Michele Bachmann supported unions, increased spending, harming our safety, and giving the federal government even more power over the states. At a time when Scott Walker and Wisconsin Republicans are taking away collective bargaining because of its cost to the state, Michele Bachmann wanted to force them to give collective bargaining rights to move employees, making balancing the budget without tax increases that much harder.

MA Republicans: Write-in James McKenna for AG to run against Martha Coakley

Republicans failed to get a candidate to file for Attorney General to run against failed Senate candidate MArtha Coakley, who is now very unpopular. As a result, James McKenna is running a write-in campaign as a Republican. If he gets 10k write in votes, he will be the nominee. No office so important should go uncontested. MA has strange write-in laws, so it is important to make sure you get it right for your vote to count. To properly write-in James McKenna:

Make sure you fill in the oval by the BLANK Attorney General spot on the ballot.

In the blank space write: “James McKenna 28 Miles St. Millbury” If you do not write the full thing, your vote will NOT count. Just writing James McKenna is not sufficient.

The McKenna campaign lays out the procedure in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpK1WmGRL5o&feature=player_embedded

If you have any further questions, post them in the comments, and I will try to answer or find an answer to them. Leave it to Massachusetts to make such a complicated write-in law.

Liberals Around America Praying for Christine O’Donnell Victory

There is a reason Liberal Democrats want Christine O’Donnell to win the DE Primary Tuesday: She cannot beat liberal Democrat Chris Coons. Here are comments from the liberal elction blog Swing State Project on the potential O’Donnell victory:

“Please, God. Yes” - JeremiahTheMessiah http://www.swingstateproject.com/showComment.do?commentId=169640

“Thank You Delaware Republicans!

Thank you Sarah! Thank You O’Donnell supporters. I kid you not I literally just walked out of my house and yelled thank you Jesus! Not even playing I swear I did. I live in the middle of nowhere and no one heard me but still.”- hoosierdem http://www.swingstateproject.com/showComment.do?commentId=169644

Thats just a small sample of the, as of now, 74 comments praising Christine O’Donnell, because they now that a Christine O’Donnell win Tuesday means a Chris Coons win in November.

According to Rasmussen Reports, Chris Coons leads O’Donnell by 11 points, 47-36.

According to Rasmussen Reports, Mike Castle leads Chris Coons by 11 points, 48-37.

According to the unreleased Public Policy Polling poll:

[Chris Coons] would start out with a large advantage over O’Donnell in a general election match up, and is polling closer to Castle than he was when PPP polled Delaware last month.

Its very simple. If you want to see large enough majorities in Congress to override an Obama veto on ObamaCare repeal, Mike Castle is your man. If you want to embarrass the Obama Administration by winning the VP’s Senate Seat, Mike Castle is your man. If you don’t care if ObamaCare is revealed, Christine O’Donnell is your girl. If you want the Administration to be opening champagne bottles November 3rd, knowing they held on to Biden’s seat, then Christine O’Donnell is your girl.

If you want Obama and Biden to be in the fetal position crying November 3rd because of embarrassing losses in Illinois and Delaware, Castle is your man.

I also want to ask what happened to everyone who was so appalled at Andre Bauer’s campaign for SC Gov. He started calling Nikki Haley a whore, falsely accusing her of affairs. Now, Christine O’Donnell is falsely accusing Mike Castle of having a gay affair, and everyone ignores it. I just find that crazy.

Sharron Angle planning huge ads buys in next week, needs money to beat Reid!

Sharron Angle is planning huge ad buys in the next few weeks, the size that you usually buy in late October, not August. But Reid and his liberal allies have buried her under negative ads, so she needs money to fight back. Her team knows that if she does not take control of the race now, Reid will win. Thats why she needs money NOW to help fight back and beat Reid! Every dollar helps. If you can’t donate much, e-mail this to your friends, tweet it, facebook it, etc. Donate at http://sharronangle.com/ and lets see if we can help her reach $2.75 million by the end of next week!

Ken Buck Calls Tea Partiers “Dumbasses”

A few days after saying the reason you should vote for him is “I do not wear high heels”, Ken Buck has been caught calling Tea Partiers “dumbasses”. That’s right, after courting the Tea Party and calling himself the Tea Party candidate, Ken Buck has turned on them. I admit, I had been neutral in this race. However, after this, I have to say I support Jane Norton. First his flirting with birtherism (He said he would support lawsuits requiring Obama to prove his citizenship), his description of the Tea Party, and Jan Brewer’s endorsement of Norton has pushed me into Norton’s camp. This is not the first time Ken Buck has turned on someone that support’s him. After Tom Tancredo called Obama the “Greatest threat to our security”, Buck turned on him saying “I can’t believe that guy opened his mouth.” Then, after Norton agreed with Tancredo’s comments, Buck did another turn around, stating he agreed with Tancredo. Now, after being caught calling the Tea Party movement “dumbasses”, Buck is pandering to them again saying he regrets his comments. How many of his supporters will he throw under the bus before they realize he is just using them?

Indiana: Pence says no, should we stop here? Nope.

Just because Pence has said no doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get a chance to say Bayh Bayh, Bayh in November. Currently, the best Republican candidate looks like State Sen. Marlin Stutzman
He is conservative, without all the baggage of John Hostettler.
But, he is not setting the world on fire in fundraising. There are some other candidates who could be strong because of their positive, strong name rec already who we should try and convince to jump in the race-
Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard- Call him @ 317-686-3440 or e-mail at Greg Ballard E-mail
