27 Days

From the diaries, by Erick

Well, we’re 27 days away from a new year.

The year.

The year we’ve been talking about for 14 months.

I have a question for you. What are you prepared to do?

Are you going to just sit by, worry, be anxious and complain about how everything is being messed up in our country?

Or are you going to do something about it?

Yes, I know we are all happy/unhappy with our members of Congress.

If you’re happy with your Members of Congress, have you told them? Have you volunteered on their campaign? Have you offered to host a coffee for them to allow them to meet your neighbors and friends? Have you promoted them through Facebook, Twitter or any other social media? Have you joined in the comment section of your local online news outlet? Have you written letters to the editor of your local newspapers? If not, why not?

If you’re not happy with your Members of Congress, have you told them? Have you stepped into the race to take the seat? Have you found their opponent and volunteered for their campaign? Have you told your friends and family why you won’t be supporting the incumbent? Do they have an online presence? If they don’t know what it is, could you be the one who teaches them what they need to do? If not, why not?

Have you gone to a meeting at your local Republican Party? Is the leadership conservative? If not, have you made plans to infiltrate and take it back from the moderates? Do they have a social media presence? Are you willing to help them learn why it’s important to the network in your county? If not, why not?

We are not all called to be the candidate. We are not all called to finance the campaign. We are not all called to traipse around the countryside and put up signs in the craziest of places. And we are not all called to make phone calls and stuff envelopes.

But, I do believe that we, as people interested in and passionate about this thing called liberty, do have a responsibility to be involved in some way.

As Rush has taught of late, become the person of influence on political matters in your group. Someone will speak and fill that vacuum, especially in the coming political year. Shouldn’t it be a conservative voice?

This is our year. The tide is turning hard for the Democrats and most have yet to realize that President Obama’s coattails have left them behind, holding an anvil.

So again I ask: What are you prepared to do?

Heh.

That is one of my all-time favorite movies and, without a doubt, the best scene in it.

And, yet, I didn’t even realize that it had sunk into my psyche. :)

Working on it...slowly though

I’ve got the information to join our local RFW (Republican Federated Women’s) group and the date/time of the next meeting. I’ve also got information on the local GOP’s next two meetings. May not make those with holidays coming up but I’m on the contact list for them and will start attending regularly. Have been in touch with the local precinct chair to see what I can do.

I’m a working mom of two….so I don’t have tons of time. But I do intend to make my face and name, as well as my opinion, known around these parts :)

The primary process is FLAWED. Two states should not decide our candidate.

None of us can do everything, but we can do something. Sounds like you’ve taken great steps already! :)

I have never been as politically active as I am now. I am actively campaigning for Marco Rubio in my area, through the email, and on blogs. I email, send postcards to*, and call my reps all the time on the issues. I never forget to thank my reps if they vote correctly. (By correctly, I mean voting NO on any and all legislation that will destroy our country.) I refuse to donate any money to the RNC because I’m afraid RINOs will benefit from it, and all RINOs need to be removed from Congress. I donate to the conservative candidates of my choice.

*As info – postcards don’t have to go through the anthrax screening like letters do and they get to our reps sooner.

Awesome!

Great opportunity to work for a great, young conservative!

And great advice about the postcards!

Thanks!

I immediately contact Fimian's campaign after....

JadedByPolitics (Diary) Friday, December 4th at 5:55PM EST (link)

Connolly voted for that Obamacare bill and have had multiple emails back and forth I will work for this campaign in a way I have NEVER done for anyone else. I will knock on every damn door in VA-11 and explain to these citizens that WE must STOP the slide to socialism that has occurred since 2008. I will donate not only my time but my money and I have my husband and two sons who will be boots on the ground for Fimian as well. It will not be for lack of effort if Fimian does not take this Congressional seat. WE MUST WIN!

You're awesome!

whatever it takes!

I pledge to do whatever I can for Conservative candidates, especially those who oppose Pelosi, Reid, Specter etc. Locally, I will continue to support Senator Kirk Dillard in the IL Gubernatorial race.

We can do this, more importantly, we must do whatever it takes to unseat the Liberals in every race in our nation.

isn’t going to be a good year for libs, if we have anything to say about it.

555! "So again I ask: What are you prepared to do?"

ColdWarrior (Diary) Friday, December 4th at 8:11PM EST (link)

First, I’ve set priorities.

My highest priority is trying to recruit more conservatives to become Republican Party precinct committeemen. Half the slots nationwide were vacant in 2008. The half that were filled were split about 50-50 between liberals/moderates/RINOs and conservatives. That split is reflected in our “limp Richard” Party “leadership” and the Republican candidates that have been winning the primary elections. If we could get thousands of conservatives to get to local GOP meetings and become voting members of the Party — precinct committeemen — and fill up all the empty slots, that 50-50 split would change to a 75-25 advantage for conservatives over the liberals/moderates/RINOs. THEN the conservatives could vote in new, conservative leadership. And be in a position to vote to give Party endorsements to the BEST conservative candidates in the Republican primaries. We’d have better, more conservative candidates going on to face the Debtocrat candidates in the general elections.

Also, if conservatives would start flocking into the Party, in droves, NOW, it would have an immediate impact on the Republican incumbents, stiffening the spines of some of the conservatives and striking fear in the RINOs. And also in some of the Debtocrats. Because, in the case of the RINOs, they’d know their chances of cruising to a primary victory will have been diminished and, in the case of the Debtocrats, they’d see the probably go up that they’d be facing a better, more conservative Republican challenger in the general election.

Second, I will be evaluating the conservative Republican candidates running for those races most important to me. First, the state legislative seats representing my legislative district, those of two state representatives and one state senator. Second, I’ll be evaluating the four alleged conservatives who are vying to win the Republican primary for my congressional district, a post now held by Debtocrat/socialist Harry Mitchell. Mitchell voted for Pelosi’s “health care” bill and refused to hold any townhall meetings during the August recess. I will try to figure out which of these candidates for each post is the BEST conservative and then back them with my time, money and effort. I will put up yard signs, make phone calls, and distribute literature in my precinct and elsewhere.

And I’ll also send faxes to our fearless Republican “leaders” in the House and Senate whenever I can to attempt to coerce them into growing spines. But, I think the BEST way to achieve that is to show them that conservatives are flocking into the Party, because THAT directly affects their re-election chances. That’s their paramount concern. So I’ll always add in my faxes that I’m a conservative Republican Party precinct committeeman and I’m doing my darnedest to recruit more. And tell them, for example, that my precinct went from 5 precinct committeemen to a full-strength 8 precinct committeemen, and inform them of the hundreds, if not thousands, of PCs some of us have recruited in Maricopa and Pinal counties.

Thank you.

My Part

hickorystick (Diary) Saturday, December 5th at 12:23AM EST (link)

I will be attending the monthly meetings, and volunteer for a couple of things like put up yard signs.
Last year I saw a 7′X5′ McCain sign displayed behind the fence at the local lumber yard I buy materials from.. I went in and talked to the owner and said not enough people can see the sign where it’s at. A yard worker fork-lifted me to the roof where I could install the sign on the billboard. The road has 25,000 cars pass by per night.
Of course Progressives being the peaceful anti-violece people that they are, they paint bombed it twice and tore it down in the third and final attack. This resulted in a TV report, interviewing the McCain supporting Lumber yard owner. On election day I pieced the sign together and held it on the Offramp on the same road to remind voters of the TV interview, and a half dozen people came down and joined me with their McCain signs.

That's great!

RedInABleuState (Diary) Saturday, December 5th at 11:23PM EST (link)

Have to say that putting out yard signs is one of my favorite parts of a campaign. Great stories so often come from this part of the field work. :)

Mess in Mass

1stRichard (Diary) Saturday, December 5th at 7:07AM EST (link)

Republican Revolution in Mass is in trouble, I have talked to Sholley that is running against Frank personally and he is not seeing any funding from the state GOP and the national GOP. Here we have in the senate race a GOP progressive liberal in the primary running a smear campaign on the conservative. Then we have a late entry in the Neal race, one of those professional politicians that is going to muck up that race. And on to the governors race and again you will see some more progressive liberal RINOS. There are some that are trying to turn it around but there is too much opposition in the GOP. We are making grassroots steps to correct this but it is going to take time. Mass is ripe for the taking now, our state and local taxes are doubling every ten years and even the moderate liberals can’t take it any more. And here is the GOP leadership making the same old failed attempts, all too frustrating but we are working on it. If only the GOP leadership would get a clue maybe there is hope for Mass, not likely….

Sometimes...

RedInABleuState (Diary) Saturday, December 5th at 11:26PM EST (link)

it takes a little longer than others. It’s worth the time and the fight, especially because of the rising taxes. Eventually, they’ll have to look elsewhere. Right? (Hopefully!)

Congrtas on the FP promotion!

TNJim (Diary) Sunday, December 6th at 2:17AM EST (link)

This goes right along with Moe’s “We are the Cavalry” statement at the RS gathering. Taking back the party is up to us, no, not just RedState members, but each and every Republican who still believes in Conservative principles. Involvement in the party at whatever level you can get, from manning the phones to becoming a precinct committeeman, is essential. Tea parties and townhalls are great but as 2010 looms a more personal involvement in your local GOP is the logocal next step.

Thanks for this, RedinaBleuState. Catch ya on twitter. :)

Totally agree.

I think the Tea Parties are a great thing…but if they don’t lead us to action and involvement, I fear the passion is useless.
