“My Friends" in Florida: The Military Vote

By Michelle Oddis

South Carolina exit polls showed that 25% of Republican voters are vets. Of that 25%, 36% voted for McCain, 29% for Huck, and only 17% for Romney.

Here is some more food for thought on the military vote in Florida:

There are 52,000 active duty personnel in Florida, and 1.75 million veterans (second only to California's 2.2 million).

30.7% of the 1.75 million vets are Vietnam era vets.

Just last week 40% of absentee ballots had been accounted for, many of these could be active duty military.

McCain will take these votes. He has been dragging around Col. George "Bud Day" a legendary war hero while he campaigns.

Byron York writes in his column today "they admire McCain as a war hero and a wartime leader. For them — many are veterans — that’s the most important thing of all."

Bottom line -- RINO or not -- he’s a POW and he’s got their vote.
