Update on the reported hacking of 160 MB of internal files and emails from Hadley-CRU, the Climactic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, as reported earlier in the day by RedState diarist dpayton.
According to Ed Morrissey at Hot Air, the validity of the emails has been confirmed by Dr. Phil Jones at the CRU, author of some of the emails. Taken at face value, some of the content would suggest that staff at the CRU has been actively “fudging” the data, the better to support their Global Warming assumptions conclusions.
Given the Hadley-CRU’s status as one of the leading repositories of climate data, allegations of data manipulation could be particularly damaging to their integrity, and to the Global Warming religion cause in general.
The careful reader may recall that the Hadley-CRU is the same center involved earlier this year in the “The Dog Ate My Raw Data” controversy, previously blogged in these pages.

MacAoidh (Diary) Friday, November 20th at 10:16PM EST (link)…to cut the legs out of the AGW movement. Implicated in these e-mails are some of the worst of the climate-change propagandists.
We can only hope, but if the hacker in this case learned something from the Breitbart-O’Keefe-Giles-ACORN exposes and can offer a steady drip-drip-drip of damaging disclosures to force the dinosaur media to cover the scandal, it could well affect public policy.
And within that comes the possibility that America might develop a real energy policy. And states like ours will then be able to lead the country out of a recession.
Like I said, we can only hope…
