NY Gov. Paterson to SNL: Please Do Another Slapstick Sketch About My Blindness

The blind Governor of New York – David Paterson – was pretty upset with Saturday Night Live a few months ago when it aired a sketch poking fun at his blindness (and prior drug use):

Paterson was angry when Saturday Night Live got some cheap laughs over his handicap, but he’s willing to joke about it himself:

The state has secretly settled an embarrassing federal racial-discrimination lawsuit, The Post has learned. The suit accused Paterson, back when he was Senate minority leader in 2003, of firing a white Senate photographer in order to replace him with an African-American…

Paterson, who is legally blind, claimed in a sworn deposition that he didn’t see well enough to have fired Maioriello because of his race.

A spokesman for Paterson later said the comment was “a quip, a joke.”

I guess Paterson isn’t really very concerned about how hurtful these jokes are. Game on, Saturday Night Live.
