Contra E J Dionne, wait-and-see is what caused the Blago Vortex: it’s not going to end it, too. You know why? Because wait-and-see doesn’t solve the underlying problems… to wit, that Illinois Democrats are cowards and Senator Harry Reid is incompetent.
Shame that this is going to have an adverse effect on Obama’s Inauguration, but me and mine have had nothing to do with that. This is all the Democrats’ puppy.

I think it is laugh out loud funny that Burris is a lobbyist
janis (Diary) Friday, January 2nd at 12:00PM EST (link)who points out that he’s taking a pay cut to become the junior senator. Given all the grief that The One’s campaign rhetoric pointed at lobbyists + the Repubs, now he’s got a guy taking his own seat who makes no bones about it. And I’d be willing to bet that Burris won’t be exactly cutting out coupons to live on. If he was able to donate over $20,000 to Blago’s campaigning, he’s not exactly doomed to a life on Spam and Chef Boyardee.
Blago's arsenal is far from depleted
cookcountyconservative (Diary) Friday, January 2nd at 6:24PM EST (link)with the Burris appointment. He has many quivers yet to throw and to be sure he is saving most of them for Patrick Fitzgerald’s use.
In the words of my esteemed Governor “this thing is %$#%$#…ing Golden”!
Yes, let’s just wait-and-see!
Do you suppose they have any idea how ridiculous they all look from outside their little echo chamber?n/t

Hell no...
cookcountyconservative (Diary) Friday, January 2nd at 7:17PM EST (link)and as Kass points out today in the Tribune, Obama has totally blown this by not forcing a special election -
“Obama had a responsibility to the people of Illinois to do so. But he kept his mouth shut. As always, he avoided conflict with machine political bosses, a consistent character trait stubbornly ignored by his media cheerleaders.
His top White House strategist and his chief of staff are creatures of the Daley machine, and Democrats didn’t want to risk the Senate seat. What happened to the promise of transcending the old politics?”
“Da Boys” are coming to Washington to play the big sand box – look out America!
I've enjoyed reading John Kass's stuff over the past few months.
