I thought releasing the VP pick via text msg was a great idea and of course tantalizing the media with the pick was also a good idea.
But not releasing the pick before office workers left (or are leaving) for the day on the east coast was a tactical mistake. It would have been a great time to generate conversation at the office and at Happy hour tonight.
By Monday morning the story will be old.

You mistake
RJD (Diary) Friday, August 22nd at 3:36PM EST (link)the Obama campaign for a well-run organization. It’s all about strategery (thanks SNL).
I agree
justatron (Diary) Friday, August 22nd at 3:55PM EST (link)I thought for sure he would announce around 2-3pm today giving enough time for both East and West coast workers to discuss and for the issue to dominate the drive home talkers on the radio.
Now, if he waits until 5pm EST or later, or even until tomorrow, your average person won’t give a crap. They’ll be too busy with weekend activites. I think that Thursday afternoon would have been an ideal time to announce…
So Many Mistakes
dld1717 (Diary) Friday, August 22nd at 4:07PM EST (link)First, how many people suffering in these economic woes can afford to receive text messages?
Second, last weekend before many kids start school or move off to college so you know many parents will be out and not care
Third, he has maxed this out that at this point I could really care less
Another Theory
justatron (Diary) Friday, August 22nd at 4:13PM EST (link)Maybe since Obama is calling all of the losers in the VP race, he’s waiting until he breaks the news to all of them.
Perhaps Hillary has the cell phone set on vibe and is ignoring it???
“Oh look, Bill. It’s Barack again…just let it go to voicemail…”
Since when is a text message news?
GrnMtn Friday, August 22nd at 4:14PM EST (link)Does anyone really think that the time at which a text message is sent is going to swing this election? Since when is a text message news anyway? Shouldn’t we be talking about more important issues?
