Red State Directors: Please Launch a Sarah Palin for Senate Write-in Campaign!!!

I’ll make this brief:

The Red State Directors should endorse a Sarah Palin write-in campaign in the Alaska Senate race. It could be the one thing that saves the seat for the GOP. Stevens might even choose to end his campaign if faced with this additional obstacle.

If she wins, she can decline the seat, whether she becomes vice president or remains governor.

The seat would then be open, with a special election to follow. That would be an election the Republicans can win.

Except, I don't think anyone here wants her in the Senate.

If Palin isn’t VP, then let her return to Alaska and serve out at least her first term as Governor. She can also work on her national bona fides.

I think the only chance the GOP has

is if Stevens announces he will step down if he wins, because everybody will know that Sarah will appoint his replacement, and that she will appoint somebody clean and good. So I don’t think its necessary (and probably not possible) for her to actually become the candidate. Even then it’ll be tough to actually get people to vote for the guy’s name, even knowing he wont be the actual Senator, but its their only hope.

I want her in the senate

I need to hear her speak more intelligently about foreign policy, before I ever support her in a primary.

The Senate won't help with that.

I don’t want a Senator Palin running for President in 2012. Governor Palin or VP Palin is what we all should want. Yes, Palin needs to work on her overall policy resume. If the McCain-Palin ticket doesn’t win, I don’t want her spending too much time in the D.C. area anymore than she has too. There are other ways for her to hone her foreign policy skills.

just my opinion but this will ensure loss of the seat

Such a campaign will ensure, IMHO, defeat. She would not win a write-in, these almost always FAIL (provide us with one that has worked!?!?). Write-ins would just take away from votes for Stevens which are needed to hold the seat.

As pathetic as it is… The strategy has to be to get him back into Office then to pressure him out and be replaced (not heard with any certainty if this is a replaced by Gov. or required Special election, either way I think we’d keep the seat).

I believe your sentiment to be earnest, but misplaced. Again, just my opinion!

Do you guys ever read anything anyone posts here?

Neither Palin nor Parnell can appoint a successor. IF, and that’s a damned big IF, Stevens wins and steps down, in 90 days or so there’s an election. I know pretty much every name-brand Republican in Alaska, and I don’t know any who’d feel real good about going up against Begich with only a 90 day campaign and no money.

Any way you slice it, the seat’s gone. In all probability, so is Young’s. Damn don’t all you guys feel purified?
