Second, I’m going to offer up some information regarding this story that has been (for at least 24 hours before you posted this), is and continues to be available to anyone capable (and willing) to perform some cursory research online:

After conducting additional research into this situation, we have verified, according to flight manifests (legally binding documents) that the individual that allegedly created a first-hand account of events on-board AirTran Airways flight 297, a Theodore Petruna, was never actually on-board the flight. In the latest developments, Houston television station KHOU has done a story about the flight and has talked to the man who sent the email, Tedd Petruna. You can click this link to see the story.

The station quoted Petruna as saying: “”I’m glad it got out. Due to personal and financial reasons, I can’t speak about this.”

The report said Petruna “admits that his description of the men’s attire was wrong, and he admits he didn’t personally see anyone watching pornographic videos.” [cite]

Third, I’ll make you a friendly wager. In one week, we meet back at this posting and see where the story has gone. If it turns out that there were Muslim terrorists on flight 297 carrying out a “dry run”, but the media covered it up, then I will donate $500 to whatever charity your hero, Glenn Beck, currently advocates for.

If on the other hand it turns out these were not Muslim terrorists on flight 297, you will (a) apologize publicly, here, for dragging down the level of seriousness on RedState; and (b) never make another posting that isn’t thoroughly researched and free from irrational and hysterical conspiracy theory ranting.

What do you say? If you’re willing to back your writing up it should be an easy win for you, right?

But wait – before you decide, let me try and help you out by giving you a little more information regarding the Canadian Free Press article author, Douglas Hagmann.

1) He is a frequent guest on Coast to Coast AM. That’s the late late night radio show that features discussion of, among other things, UFOs, haunted houses, and psychics.

2) He has written a number of articles (e.g. here, here, here, and here) as recently as August, 2009 regarding 44′s birth certificate. I’m not sure, but I think that may well qualify him for birther status.

So, what do you say? Want to stand with the rock solid Douglas Hagmann and meet me back here in one week? Between this guy’s outstanding credibility and red_dawn’s “proven beyond doubt”, you can’t possibly lose, can you?

What a confusing set of conflicting accounts, just from the links so far on this diary.

Regardless of what the truth is, this to me speaks to a couple of huge problems that I fear won’t go away anytime soon. We’re seeing an extreme lack of trust in the MSM that is getting stronger by the day. As a result we use blogs and other internet mediums as our source….but there’s no validation of these sources (again, because that is traditionally an MSM job and few trust them anymore). So, an email like this can “go viral” and once “confirmed” by a blog it is truth.

The fact that the email author wasn’t on the plane speaks volumes – and should have been verified before the word “confirmed” was applied to the story. That said, AirTran’s official story seems to have a lot of holes in it as do the MSM reports…so it sure seems like more than a cell phone incident.

I hope the truth comes out.
