Organizing to Protest

As pointed out in numerous posts and diaries, the Left has long been organized to protest just about everything.    There are no “spontaneous” demonstrations.    They have email lists, websites, precinct captains, etc.    That is how they get all those folks out at the drop of a hat.

They know the rules.   They probably have a standard insurance policy good to go at any time.    They have printers who can get all those professional looking signs out in jig time.    All because they have big pockets.

You know what else they have?   Lawyers.    They have a legal team on call that can file a civil rights violation, freedom of speech case, etc., at the drop of a hat.    I doubt these lawyers are doing it for free.   Some of them may represent “organizations.”   But, who is funding these “organizations.”

The Right needs to start doing these things.   If the National organization won’t start developing email lists and training organizers, we need to do it ourselves.    If the National organization won’t provide lawyers, we have to provide them ourselves.    Heck, we are Republicans.   We don’t wait for someone else to save us.   We save ourselves.

I am a lawyer in Maryland.   Not admitted to Federal Practice yet.    Someone pays me and the court costs, I am good to go.    What other lawyers do we have to here willing to step up?

It’s a start.

Who else do we have?

Money is a start.

Don’t know how donations would work.

Anyone got any ideas on that front.

(1) Develop your mission statement. Be very clear what your objectives are and how you are going to achieve those objectives.

(2) Start developing your website, your information, your contact list along with a core group to help you achieve your objectives. Set up your books. Decide a central location for your “group”.

(3) File the necessary paperwork for your organization whether it is a 501 or 520 or a corporation. Make sure the paperwork is done!

(4) Set up your bank account and then you can link online from your website for donations.

(5) Launch your website with the help of some really good web developers. Don’t make your site look Mickey Mouse. Do it right!

(6) Go viral and get out the word. Get your organization plugged by radio call ins, the newspaper, or local groups. Get donations, get people involved.

(7) Good luck and knock ‘em dead!

To me, “consensus” seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects … There are still people in my party who believe in “consensus” politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors … I mean it. — Margaret Thatcher

Thank you.

Does this work for political organizations. Although I guess I am thinking about a legal organization for conservative causes.

It depends on what you file as

along with which state you file in. Each state has similar, yet different requirements.

There are several sites on the web that will help you along with the practice. If you declare yourself as a political organization, please make sure to check your state’s Board of Elections site to make sure you are in compliance with required documentation.

This is why a mission statement is critical. You will focus on what exactly you intend to accomplish with your organization and then you can begin to focus on the required documentation and filings.
