Co, NM very heavily dependent on coal fired plants. So are VA, NC, NH, OH, MO, IL, IN.

Honestly we should be generating our baseload electricity with nukes.
joe24pack (Diary) Monday, November 3rd at 1:20PM EST (link)and using the coal for Coal-to-Liquids to get transportation fuels as well as feedstock for plastics and other chemical processes. Mass burning of fossil fuels for grid electricity may turn out to be a mistake in the long run.
Save the Earth, it’s the only known planet with beer.
Forget the cost for a minute...
izoneguy (Diary) Monday, November 3rd at 2:25PM EST (link)…we are talking about the possible shutdown of
plants. Short term blackouts or long term either
way it would spell ecological disaster and a
safety nightmare.
What do you think people would do in the winter?
Chop down trees and burn wood for warmth and for cooking.
Your water plants would be shut down. No more fresh water?
Hospitals would cease to function. Gas pumps would not work.
Entire towns, cities & states would grind to a halt.
Hundreds of thousands of house fires, fire stations would
cease to function.
Why doesn’t Obama think before he flaps those big ol lips?
Obama’s lips lose election!!!
The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.
