How hard is this? I mean really, simple is better – and in this case it’s accurate.
When President Obama says: “We want a balanced approach to fixing the debt ceiling,” the ONLY answer the Republicans/Boehner should be giving is:
“It wasn’t a balanced approach that got us here. It was the government spending far more than it took in.”
If you want to add something, you point out:
1) They are looking to increase more spending while advancing their lie about “balancing.”
2) We believe that the best way to stop over spending is to cut spending.
3) We refuse to raise taxes because the working people of America need all the money they can get in their paychecks right now.”
If you want to get snarky you can add:
“Their idea of ‘balance’ is like a gambling addict asking for you to pay off his debts, but to also give him more money so he go back to the casinos and keep gambling.”
Really, Mr. Speaker, RNC, this is not rocket-science. It’s the sad reality we’re living in.

The waste
ysonyou (Diary) Sunday, July 10th at 4:08PM EST (link)So much is just thrown away. Even thinking about raising taxes is absurd. WIll the GOP cave?
The Republicans are helping Obama by saying no new taxes
izoneguy (Diary) Sunday, July 10th at 4:40PM EST (link)Obama does not realize it but the Republicans will save his butt by not caving on new taxes.
If Obama had his way and was allowed to raise trillions in new taxes that would usher in a depression. Kinda strange that the MSM does not follow this logic.
How can they? They only operate from emotion.
Republicans are trying to keep the economy afloat and look at the thanks they get. It is time to push Obama hard – take the credit card away and tell him it is for the good of the country. After all Mr. Obama – you are a patriot? No?
The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.
Can't they read the polls
Kyle-MI (Diary) Sunday, July 10th at 7:46PM EST (link)http://www.gallup.com/poll/147626/Federal-Budget-Deficit.aspx
Gallop reports that 47% are against raising the debt ceiling with only 19% for it. They also report that a whopping 73% blame spending for the deficit. Finally they report that 48% want to reduce the deficit through only or mostly spending cuts.
We can’t get much more favorable opinion for the GOP position although there are a lot of undecided who could be still be convinced if our leadership would just make the case. Stop negotiating with Obama and the Dems. Take your case to the public. They are already most of the way there.
5 x 5. And as mentioned in another diary,
David123 (Diary) Sunday, July 10th at 7:54PM EST (link)they should just pass a law in the order specified in the Constitution – the House just needs to pass a debt limit raise that includes the cuts they want. Senate either passes it verbatim, or passes a modified version that goes to conference
