The Only Talking Point Needed for Federal Shut Down

“We passed a budget. It is the President/Harry Reid who is shutting down the government by ignoring it.”

Put the shutdown on them for NOT acting when the House has acted (or for issuing a veto if somehow the Senate comes along).

If you want to add a talking point, then:

“The country voted in November to stop this runaway spending. We listened to votes. Harry Reid and President Obama continue to ignore the voters.”

Really what more is there to the messaging here? Keep it short, to the point and repeat, over and over and over. Period.

Constitutionally, the House of Representatives is where spending and revenue bills have to originate. They don’t originate in the Senate and they don’t originate in the Executive Branch. If the Senate and the Executive Branch don’t want to go along with it, then they get nothing. Simple as that. It is not the fault of the House. They appropriated the funds that they thought was appropriate. That is the intent of the Constitution.

Sounds good in theory, but.....

….expect the Dem Senate to “cut the cuts” from the bill and send it back to the House.

Then what?
