Rasmussen just released 2 polls for both of the Governor Race in NY and CA and both show some movement for GOP.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/
CA
Brown 41%
Whitman (R) 41%
Brown held a 44-35 lead in September
( Brown leads Poizner by 43-32 and leads Campbell 42 to 33)
NY
Cuomo 49
Rudy Guiliani 46%
( 2 months ago Cuomo led Rudy by 19 pts)
If Patterson survives primary Rudy and even Rick Lazio would beat him
If the Republican party is able to regain mansion in NY and hold it in CA it would be grand due to redistricting and it may help gain some energy for the half dead NY GOP. I still wonder if Rudy is going to run although

New York's going to be insane next year.

Wake Up Call
joejharvey (Diary) Thursday, November 19th at 11:26AM EST (link)This should be a huge wake up call to Democrats. Things haven’t gone well in CA, mostly due to the Democrat legislators but still, this would be incredible. After the Hoffman deal, I think its time for conservatives to rethink our chances in NY. That he didn’t win was mostly a fluke and no thanks to the Scuzz.
After four years of getting beaten, it’s kind of nice to be on the other side.

There is a huge wave building and I hope the NRSC sees the huge opportunities for Senate pickups
red_oakster (Diary) Thursday, November 19th at 11:48AM EST (link)Moe, it’s not just that both Senate seats in NY are up for election next year. It’s that the anti-Dem wave among independent voters could threaten even “safe” seats like Schumer’s. Good candidates in North Dakota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Washington state, and yes, even New York against Schumer could mean GOP pickups. These are “B” list races that need attention from Cornyn et al. Tommy Thompson and Hoeven are polling strongly in WI and ND respectively. What the NRSC still does not seem to realize is that the opportunities to pick up senate seats reaches into the double digits. I’m not saying we win them all, but that we have to play to win.
Not Schumer
jeffreywturner (Diary) Thursday, November 19th at 11:59PM EST (link)He is way to popular to be challenged in NY, and not just because his liberalism fits the state. He does all the things that make Senators popular.
The other Senate seat, Governor’s Mansion, and State Senate control are definitely in play though (no real chance to win the other house of the legislature though).
