Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard and the first woman to lead a Fortune 20 company, announced Tuesday that she has begun “the formal process” of exploring a challenge to liberal California Sen. Barbara Boxer (D).
Fiorina, who served as a senior economic adviser to Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) 2008 presidential campaign, has filed the name “Carly for California” with the IRS.
Fiorina said filing with the IRS is “a logical next step in the process of evaluating running for this office.”

I'd be excited if...
RandomGuy (Diary) Tuesday, August 18th at 2:51PM EST (link)Fiorina just spends $30 million or something on commercials featuring Henry Alford going after Boxer.
It might not win her the election, but at least we’d get to see Babs go nuts. And who knows? Maybe she would win.
Actually, in a perfect world, Henry Alford would move back to California and run against Boxer. That would be amazing.

I think I will stick with Chuck DeVore...

Agreed.
Lammo (Diary) Tuesday, August 18th at 2:58PM EST (link)There’s no reason I am aware of (e.g., impending scandal or clearly ineffective campaign with no traction) that would justify Fiorina jumping in against Devore. Fiorina should try the state house for a while and then go after Feinstein or maybe, even better if she lives in the right place, Pelosi.

The Main Difference Is That Fiorina Can Actually Put Money Into This Race
IJB Tuesday, August 18th at 4:49PM EST (link)I’d likely vote for DeVore in a primary.
But I have no illusions about him having anyway near enough money to wage a general election campaign in CA. (If Boxer ends up losing this race, it’d be because she ‘beat herself’, not because DeVore ‘beat’ her.)
The one advantage Fiorina would have is that she could dump her own money into this race. (But, if she’s not willing to do that, there’s no reason to support her at all.)
But she will
RandomGuy (Diary) Tuesday, August 18th at 7:56PM EST (link)I agree there is no reason to support her if she won’t dump her own money into the race, but she is willing to do so.
Sorry, that’s enough of a reason to run her. We didn’t even give Boxer a race in ’04 because our guy simply couldn’t afford a real race. Fiorina can do that, there is no way to dispute it.
Boxer can be brought down because of her own ignorant stupidity. All we need it someone with the money to get the message out. Fiorinia can do that.
Anybody will be an underdog against Boxer, but Fiorina can at least make her sweat and make her a national name. And Boxer being a national name is good for R’s. She makes the D’s look even more nuts then they are.

I agree
proudgop (Diary) Tuesday, August 18th at 8:27PM EST (link)No offense to De Vore but he is just not raising the necessary cash
Fiorina has cash and is female so it will be different race for Boxer
I would of supported Poizner if he ran for US Senate; he has been elected statewide and has cash.
She would appear to be well-suited for government.
