Arab Spring, Yob Summer

First we had the “Arab Spring”, where people braved punishment by security services as frightening as Egypt’s Mukhabarat, and the Syrian thugs who act as an internal terror agency. If you are brave enough to expose your frustrations in Syria, there is no doubt that you will be picked up and the odds of your returning home are low. It is not clear what new political group will emerge after the dust settles, but it’s hard to think that it will be much worse than what existed in most of the countries that have revolted. These people at least have legitimate beefs, and just want anything else, including an opportunity to dip into the world that they see only through their phones.

Now, we have the Yob Summer in London, where glassy eyed idiots run wild under the false notion that they are being oppressed, and ruin people’s livelihoods for some sort of primitive satisfaction. Has there ever been a less respected group of “protestors” than this opportunistic mob of punks? Yes, it must be terrible to have to live in sponsored homes, watch Sky TV and receive a check for doing nothing.

Why, if they have some societal and philosophical oppression are they all smiling? Could it be that they have an opportunity to steal a flat screen, and do some damage to people under the anonymity of the mob and a hoody? The blind stupidity of them all is scary because it’s a glimpse into how easily people can sink into a mindless and opportunistic depravity.

I think, however, that there is a case that can be made that if these yobs had been born into homes where there was some sort of correlation between satisfaction and honest work, they might not have been yobs. They are being pestered by a little voice inside them saying, “Something is wrong, maybe with me, but certainly with society.”

The thing that is wrong with British society is the complete loss of the Thatcherite spirit that in the 80’s temporarily imbued the country with a bit of genuine conservatism. She had the force of will and personality to overcome a system that had simply become impossible. Then, over the years, the Labour Party slowly eroded the national will with more and more “benefits” and regulations, and commissions, and taxes. It reached it’s apex with the clueless Gordon Brown, where dozens of entire counties had about 50% of their citizens either working for the government or on the dole. Vast swathes of Britain are little more than holding pens in the form of council housing where people basically drink beer and eat greasy food, and shuffle around waiting for the next day to start.

These youths are very hard to feel sympathy for. However, if you’re born into a household where there is no dad, and mom is a slovenly cigarette smoking, telly watching slug that can’t read, it’s a little understandable that you haven’t turned out well.

David Cameron has tried to make a brave push to cut through the fog, and has had mixed results. He eliminated 500 departments with the stroke of a pen. Just like in the Middle East, where it may take generations for people to get used to living under democracy; it may take generations for Britain to become a proper society again. They have to get used to the concept of thinking for themselves, and not having life start when the check shows on the 1st.

Of course, we’re disgusted with the mindless violence and looting that we’re witnessing, but at least we can’t say that it’s not explainable and fixable.

Incrementalism on Steroids

I feel as though I am in the Twilight Zone with this administration. Understandably, the nation is having a leftist burp, but I’d really appreciate a Bill or Hill at this moment instead of this nightmare. Instead, we literally have someone to the left of Hugo Chavez.

When I listen to crazy right wing radio, I keep asking myself if they are just exaggerating for ratings points. I have actually decided that they are not exaggerating.

For God’s sake, the Obama administration actually tells us what they are doing, and most of us sit by and say to ourselves “there’s no way that they actually mean what they are saying”. The really scary thing is that they actually mean much more than what they are saying.

In the face of plummeting approval ratings, did King Barack go a teensy moderate? Did he decide to bring even one positive business strategy into play? No. He appoints an avowed communist to be his environmental czar. Van Jones? Are you kidding me?

He is basically sticking his middle finger up to anyone to the right of Fidel Castro, and saying “XXck Xou”

Those of us who are reasonable conservatives, and understand that there are two sides to any story need to recognize that it is actually time to battle. This is just too much. It is time to get busy, and angry.

I fully understand that the political landscape rides left and right, just as the econonomic cycle rides up and down. I remember being disturbed by the disengenous nonsense that we got from the Clinton White House on a daily basis. (Jeez I miss those simple days) I remember how GW let us down on spending and immigration issues.

However, it is not hyperbole to say that this administration is bum rushing a stunning leftist agenda through as quickly as possible. They are crazy, but not stupid. They fully understand that when the electorate’s delayed and worn out sensibilities catch up to what they are are really doing, they are toast.

They are literally cynical enough to just try to jam through as much as possible before we all wake from our summer slumber.

47%, ironically the same number of supposedly uninsured people in this country, did not vote for this President. How is it possible to have our entire country realigned into a neo-socialist “new world”?
This is coming from someone that holds a NHS Card in good standing. I’ve pulled a paycheck for 15 years in Europe, and have a unique understanding of the special incrementalism that only Europeans can muster and foster.

For God’s sake, please understand that this administration is openly trying to create a France, or the formerly Great Britain, now Broken Britain here in the still Great USA!

Ted Kennedy, sorry family, but good riddance

It’s a difficult moment as a person, when someone that you really can’t stand passes on. The first impulse is “I’m very sorry for your loss.”On a personal level, of course I’m sorry for his grandchildren, his immediate family, and for the people that Ted Kennedy was a friend to. By all accounts, he was a genuinely nice guy.

Then. you reflect on the fact that this person was disengenous, dishonest, bitter, and utterly counter to anything that you believe in.

This is a man that absolutely destroyed a decent man, Judge Bork, with the meanest, and most vile accusations possible. He dragged up every cliche, every damaging thing that he could think of, to ruin the candidacy of a very smart guy. He said that women would be murdered, in back room abortions etc. Then, he had the audacity to scream when people dared to question Sonia Sodemayer on a professional basis.

This man was the epitome of the ivory tower liberal that proclaimed what was appropriate, and demonized any ideas that didn’t fit his version of what we had to live with.

This man literally murdered a young woman. Please, don’t argue. The double standard, and bias towards liberals in the press shielded him somehow. These are the same people that will say that CEO’s get special treatment.

This murderer let her rot for 10 Hours before he bothered to report the accident because it would tarnish his reputation. She was alive for plenty of time to be rescued. Period. Does that bother you, feminists? No, of course not, because he was a big liberal democrat.

Ted Kennedy had the cynicism to craft the “No Child Left Behind” act together with George Bush. And then spent the following year criticizing it to gain union teacher votes.

In short, this really “nice” guy, was a political opportunist, who felt that he was genuinely above the laws and details that the rest of us have to deal with on a daily basis. He is the epitome of exactly who he demonized to his constituents to push through bills that were actually more about getting additional control over Americans and their taxable pay.

I’m sorry for your loss Kennedy family, but will not miss Ted. Please don’t have me audited now.
