President Trump: Stop Being a Coward and Fire Jeff Sessions If You Want Him Gone

It’s stunning at times to see someone exhibit the behavior of a person that wants to do something, but doesn’t have the guts to actually do it.

Amid another Twitter tirade about the “witch hunt” Mueller investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, President Trump took the time to take yet another swipe at his attorney general, Jeff Sessions.

Trump attacking the man he chose to head up the Justice Department is nothing new. Trump has had bad things to say about Sessions since before he was confirmed, including that if he’d known before nominating him that Sessions would recuse himself from the Russia investigation due to a conflict of interest, he would never have offered him the job.

Of course, there is very good reason Trump hasn’t sacked Jeff Sessions. Trump hasn’t fired Sessions (or for that matter, Rod Rosenstein) because it will immediately be seen as him attempting to obstruct justice in that he ultimately wants Robert Mueller removed. But for someone who consistently proclaims he did nothing wrong and he’s the subject of a partisan witch hunt, why wait?

The continual whinging on about what a poor job Trump thinks Sessions is doing in his handling of the DoJ is something he actually has the authority to do something about. Who can get rid of Jeff Sessions? Donald J. Trump. At this point, he should stop pussyfooting around and give the guy the ax and deal with the fallout than simply complaining about how terrible Sessions is at his job.
