Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin, whose latest claim to fame is being the one to leak the allegation that President Trump called Haiti and other African nations “s***hole countries,” is now calling on Trump and Republicans to prove their not racists by voting for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
Asked about Pres. Trump's "I'm not a racist" comment, Sen. Dick Durbin says, "The president and the Republican Party have a chance to prove that now" with DACA compromise. https://t.co/DpR1OSBvKb pic.twitter.com/MQwJToZmQk

Whether or not President Trump is a racist is not a new line of discussion. There have been decades of race issues between Trump before he was a presidential candidate and since. Trump insisted he is “the least racist person you’ll ever interview” over the weekend.
That question being extrapolated by Durbin to all Republicans needing to “prove” they’re not racist is utterly absurd. One can have concerns about immigration and border security — which are inextricably linked to illegal childhood arrivals — and not be a racist.
Dick Durbin knows better. What he doesn’t seem to realize is by placing such an idiotic litmus test on racism puts his allegation of what Trump said more into question than it was.
Is it difficult to believe that the president said such a thing in a closed-door meeting? Nope. But Durbin does his own questionable credibility over the issue no favors by now calling all Republicans racists if they don’t come to an agreement on DACA.
