Lately I sense a feeling of malaise and surliness when I visit RedState. The signing of the health care bill sucks, and a feeling of hopelessness and defeat start to to take hold. Here is what I think can happen that can change this atmosphere – we can continue to win special elections. There are FIVE, count ‘em FIVE, special elections for US House seats between now and the general election in November. We need to pay attention to these elections. We need to promote and support the Republican candidate with front page columns that describe the significance of winning immediately after the leaders in our nation’s capitol told us that they know what is best, and what we think does not matter.
Remember how great everyone was feeling right after Scott Brown was elected to the US Senate? All those good feelings left immediately after the health care bill was signed. It’s just like the horse bucked and knocked you off the saddle onto the ground. We have got to get off the ground, dust ourselves off and get back on the horse.
Some might tell me that I ought to write about those special elections instead of whining because others don’t do it. I have written about one, but I don’t think it was that well written. We have some great writers for the front page of RedState, and I don’t know how much time it takes them to pound out those great columns. I hope they are not offended by my pleas for them to write about the special elections.
Let me remind everyone of the election calendar of US House special elections.
Florida 19, April 13
Georgia 9, May 11
Pennsylvania 12, May 18
Hawaii 1, May 22
New York 29, who knows when?

We are all tired
melissatx (Diary) Monday, April 5th at 1:06PM EST (link)We will reload and get rolling along….encouragement needs to be disseminated, like Patton quotes. We have the magnificent 7: Pence, Ryan, Cantor, DeMint, Barbour, Boehner, Santorum or Chris Christie, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty to lead, not to mention our own dynamic pinch hittters Beck, Limbaugh, Malkin, Hannity…..we can do it.

You are so right pilgrim. Whatever RedState can do should....
penguin2 (Diary) Monday, April 5th at 1:16PM EST (link)be done. Scott Brown won because of involvement of sites like ours. These are special elections to give us an opportunity to pick up House seats BEFORE November. Hanging our hats only on November is a scary proposition to me.
I was down after the HC bill was signed; that feeling had really been there since Christmas, when the Dems did the evil deed on Christmas Eve day. But I have reminded myself of all that we accomplished this past year, including winning NEW JERSEY, VIRGINIA and the MASS. SENATE seat. We almost took NY-23 as well, just bad luck and timing not quite on our side. (Forgive the caps. I’ve been hanging around Jaded.) She is great for passion on this site.
Folks, we can’t let slid any opportunity for victory. I know I can’t give up, the alternative is unacceptable…..

A few (or all) of those would be great
jsanzone (Diary) Monday, April 5th at 2:02PM EST (link)Especially a legacy Dem seat like Hawaii 01. Djou’s got a great thing going, and it will be a great early blow to the Democrats leading to November.

Good. Interest will grow when we are
redneck_hippie (Diary) Monday, April 5th at 2:05PM EST (link)convinced of the candidates’ credibility on repeal. If that is the issue of the hour, then linking special elections to it is a winner.
research needs to be done
pilgrim (Diary) Monday, April 5th at 2:17PM EST (link)For example I do not know how it is done in Georgia. They might have a runoff election if no one gets 51% of the vote. Somebody here ar RS knows, and the rest of us need to become more informed.
and focus also on the primaries!
karenmartin (Diary) Monday, April 5th at 4:36PM EST (link)Here in South Carolina, sometimes the primaries may be THE election to win; it is so here in SC04 where www.JimLeeForCongress.com is running to unseat RINO Bob Inglis … the same Bob Inglis who voted for TARP and who recently told a Town Hall that “the ATM machines would have stopped working on Monday had I not voted for TARP on Friday.”
It is imperative that Jim Lee come in first or second in the primary on June 8 in order to win the runoff two weeks later. At that point, with only a democrat challenger in November in this very red state of SC, we can begin the Happy Dance of putting a Conservative, businessman, veteran who cut his teeth in planning the Tea Party here in Greenville SC in Spring ’09, and who is running for his first political office (outside of school board).
So YAY for the special elections, but let’s get geared up and PUMPED for some great news from the upcoming primaries also!

I once lived in HA-1. It is easily the most left-wing district in the country,
spainishirish (Diary) Tuesday, April 6th at 10:34AM EST (link)and I include the entire Bay Area cabal. A win there would be huge and foreboding for the Democrats.

The article also suggests that New York may simply allow the citizens of the 29th congressional district to remain without any representation until one is elected in the general election in November. I wonder if that is something that could be challenged in court.
Well Pilgrim
tngal (Diary) Tuesday, April 6th at 11:22AM EST (link)Didn’t see your excellent diary until after I wrote my own this morning on these same races. (except GA). Perhaps mine is a bit more cynical but you and I have always agreed on these.
I didn’t mention the GA because I’m hoping its pretty much a given. The other races were dem holds and we really needed to take some of them. Of course, now that the NY governor has decided not to even CALL for a special election and let the seat remain vacant, well that’s one we lost.We should be screaming over this !! And any money boms for Lynch in Florida will be …hmm, a little late in coming since EARLY VOTING STARTED YESTERDAY.
But I’m not bitter. ‘Scuse my while I go kick a slow moving turtle.
melissatx- Romney and Pawlenty are you kidding!
retiretherinos (Diary) Tuesday, April 6th at 11:11PM EST (link)Romney is rotten and Pawlenty supported cap and trade. These two are pathetic candidates. I like Palin, Daniels, Ryan over the RINOs Romney and Pawlenty. If Romney is the nominee, I would consider voting for Wayne Allyn Root. Paul Ryan or Sarah Palin or Mitch Daniels are miles better than the crap sandwich that is Mitt Romney. This a Conservative Site not a Republican RINO site. Even Chris Christie would be better than Romney.

My (combined) wish list.
NO RINOS, Please!
retiretherinos (Diary) Tuesday, April 6th at 11:18PM EST (link)There is nothing magnificent about RINOS like Romney and Pawlenty. The Dems are so scared about the specials that they won’t even have one in the NY 29th. A republican will probably win Deals district easily but they need rally behind to Republicans big-time so we do even have a run-off with the Democrat. I think Burns will grab Murtha’s seat. Dijou in Hawaii would be great, but it is highly unlikely and the same with Lynch in Wexler’s district. I hope the GOP goes all out to grab Murtha’s district. It would be sweet to have Murtha and Harry Reid’s seats in Republican hands.
5 battles coming up before November
redpens (Diary) Tuesday, April 6th at 11:34PM EST (link)let’s go for a clean sweep!
Probably Four
Sean (SIConservative) (Diary) Wednesday, April 7th at 8:54AM EST (link)As pilgrim points out, NY-29 will likely remain vacant for the remainder of the term. I’d like to blame the Governor, but instead I’ll turn it into a positive. At long last, a Democrat has passed up the opportunity to spend money.
Burns will win! And the 29th is practically in GOP hands.
retiretherinos (Diary) Thursday, April 8th at 8:12PM EST (link)Dijou would be phenominal and so would Ed Lynch. Tim Burns will beat the liberal insider that worked for the Crooked Fatso Murtha. The Dems has selected a token opposition loser for the NY 29th in November. This Zeller guy will lose by 15 to 20 points he lives in Washington and not in upstate New York. Tom Reed will sleep walk to victory in November and David Patterson should be impeached for violating the state constitution and not holding a special election.
