John McCain is declaring war on Colorado Republicans and conservatives.

After Ryan Frazier switched from the United States Senate race to the Congressional race in CD-7 (after being forced out by McCain crony Jane Norton, but that’s another story), not only did the conservative grassroots stay on board with him but the Republican establishment in the state coalesced around his campaign as well. His campaign recently issued a list of over 100 major supporters encompassing prominent office holders, donors, and activists from the congressional district.

Having a conservative like Ryan Frazier lock down support in Colorado apparently did not sit well with John McCain. McCain has taken the unusual step of recruiting Lang Sias, a paid coalitions director from his failed presidential campaign, into the primary race against Frazier.

No one in Colorado seems to have heard of Sias or seen him around Republican events. There are rumors that he doesn’t even live in the 7th Congressional District and is carpetbagging from nearby CD-2 which encompasses Boulder. This theory would certainly make sense given the fact that the only candidate in Colorado he has ever donated to is ultra-liberal Boulderite Mark Udall (D).

It would be tempting to compare Lang Sias to Dede Scozzfava, but that doesn’t seem a fair comparison since the local Republican establishment in New York at least appeared to want Scozzfava even if the grassroots didn’t. In this case, John McCain appears to be planning to override the local Republican establishment along with the grassroots. Lang Sias’ campaign is going to be completely based out of Washington DC with the McCain machine attempting to foist a RINO over a consensus conservative who is solidifying support from just about everyone. This is cronyism at it’s worst.

Please consider giving to Ryan Frazier’s campaign. And contact J.D. Hayworth and urge him to run for Senate against John McCain so we won’t have these problems anymore while you’re at it.
