You did a marvelous job describing your journey, and it was nice to meet you along the way at RS Atlanta.

LIke you, I've had a bit of an awakening this year (haven't we all!)--from a solid conservative to an active one--thanks to RS and folks like you.

one wants to walk down. I honestly wonder how the two sides in Congress can pass each other in their hallways and not want to draw swords; figuratively speaking, of course. Though I suspect they are so into their senatorial exclusiveness, they wouldn't dream of demanding pistols at dawn, or at least sending a shot across the bow in the press. Our side just doesn't demand satisfaction. We are here to try and change that.

Thank you for your kind words; so many of you here I hold in high regard, and it humbles me to know that I can help make a difference.

Of course, I went and hit the Rec button twice , inadvertently unreommending it. Trust me, it was cruelty to me, unable to finally recommend this great anthem of love, growth, struggle, and patriotism.

Penguiin, happy birthday and may you brighten the hallways of Redstate and that *other* place for many years to come.

Your beautiful words almost overcome a penguin like me. Thank you.

It is interesting the perception the feminists have towards women like myself. I think it has to do with one's expectations. The truly free woman is one who can decide what it is they really want and be satisfied with the choice they made. Radical feminists seem to be angry that they cannot have it all, in the sense they don't think they should have to make any sacrifices or modifications in their lives. And the underlying thought that runs through my mind on this, eburke- I never wanted to take on a man's job or role. I have loved being exactly who I am, and as a woman it has been more than enough.

As I said your kind words touch my heart and really make my eyes glisten. I honestly had no idea that I made a difference here, considering that I truly am a little penguin and I am among giants on this site. OTOH, that is what makes RS so wonderful; we all get to have a part and we are important because we need to be here for each other.

One little fun thing to share with you: remember your yellow legal pad you talked about? Well that is exactly how I write my diaries, with paper and pen. :)

What to say that hasn't already been said - you are always so unfailingly kind (a trait that sometimes escapes those of us who are, well...how should I say this..."sarcastically pithy" :-), your Christian love and faith always shining like a beacon in the darkness of the humanism that engulfs us; your gentle but resolute spirit.

Ya know, I find it so very ironic that my feminist acquaintances, so full of their desire to be 'equal', to be 'like a man' (why they would want devolve into such a state puzzles me), to be 'strong', to 'have it all' as they carry around a Gibralter-sized chip on their shoulder. While championing 'choice' for women, they arrogantly sneer at and look down their noses toward those women who have chosen a less 'glamorous' path.

And here's the irony, it's women like you, janis, Jaded, mom2oneson who, in my mind, are the truly 'strong' women, fighting for their children like a mother bear, sacrificing so many of the baubles that the world dangles in front of you as the 'true' signs of 'success', so that they can endeavor to make the world and our country a place where freedom and liberty reign so that all people can reach their God-given potential. It is women like you, penguin, who are the truly liberated ones, the ones on whom the lifeblood and backbone of our country rest. You are the living embodiment of the adage: "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world."

God bless you on your birthday, Penguin. Thanks for all that you do for your family, your country and for RS. You have been such a wonderful addition to the family. Thank you for your beautiful diary, for sharing your heart, and, well, just for being....you.

strangely, I actually see my resolve getting stronger, that is what they would expect all of us to do. To carry on for them and others.
It certainly is clear we have a fight on our hands.

It was great to meet you and the others at the gathering, I had not realized just how many people I have truly met here. Thank you.

Guess I'm late to the game. Just looking through the voluminous comments above should show you what an impact you have had on RedState in just a short time.

So sorry to hear about TallChE and the loss of David Hinz was a blow as well. But we honor them by continuing to fight for our nation and the principles on which it was founded.

It was truly an honor to meet you and your husband in Atlanta. Hope to see you again at the next gathering!
