Not me. Had the salary of someone in your position tracked French GDP growth instead of US GDP growth over the past 30 years, that would be the effect¹. To keep the numbers nice and round, a $100K salary would be slashed to $75K. ¹ (1.019^30) / (1.029^30) = 0.746

But wouldn’t want to live there, for the reasons outlined by Veronique. I do agree that when you get to know them, the French are very nice people and most actually seem to like Americans. Also, I have worked with French military officers in the Middle East and Bosnia and generally found them to be professional and hard working.

I have traveled throughout and have lived in Europe. The French have shown me more acts of kindness than all other destinations combined, and that is not what I expected. Then again, I did not go in expecting them to be jerks as some of us do. They say you find what you are looking for, that rings true in my experiences.

I also know that French graduates pretty much go directly to London if they want a real career. It is a shame the libs here want the same government controlled economy as they have in France, but still with the bad pasteurized cheese, bleh.
