The Coming Era Of Bipartisanship?

We are presumably supposed to put aside partisan feelings–you know, the same ones that led to the demonization of anyone who worked in the Bush Administration–now that we are entering The Golden Age Of Obama. This despite:

  1. Fraud in Minnesota. Note that the incoming chairman of the Senate Rules Committee is setting things up to issue a kangaroo-court ruling in the event that matters concerning the Minnesota recount come before his committee.
  2. Efforts made to marginalize Republicans in the House, despite 2006 campaign promises of genuine bipartisanship.

Forgive me if I don’t trust this supposed new Era of Good Feelings any further than I can throw it. If this is “bipartisanship,” no self-respecting Republican should want any part of it.

Its a good risk for the Dems to take

After all, based on history, its not like the GOP is likely to retaliate and shut out the Dems when we -someday- regain control of one or both houses.

There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, in the end, ‘Thy will be done.’ -C. S. Lewis

Actually, Republicans Did Lock The Dems Out...

…When they controlled the House.

And that’s a *good* thing. I wish they’d done more to lock the Dems out of the process back in the early 2000′s.

"... no self-respecting Republican"? Has McCain gotten the memo?

Unfortunately, Bipartisan Republicans are not exactly known for their high levels of self-esteem or respect. At least not when it would earn them a frown from a journalist or disinvited from a cocktail party.
