This Is Farcical

From Caroline Kennedy’s visit to upstate New York:

. . . after meeting with [Syracuse] Mayor Matt Driscoll, she ran into a buzz saw — angry reporters who wanted her to do more talking and less listening.

“But you’ve never held public office so what experience [do you have]?” one reporter asked.

Actually, she did speak briefly in Syracuse.

“I wanted to come upstate and meet with Mayor Driscoll and others to tell them about my experience and also learn more about how Washington can help these communities,” Kennedy said.

Her quick remarks fell flat. Reporters seemed to feel brushed off and they pursued her out.

“You’re not going to answer questions at all?” one asked.

“Where you headed next?” another demanded.

To the car.

[. . .]

Stop two was in Rochester.

Clearly someone must have told her after she left Syracuse that it probably wasn’t a good idea to dis reporters completely. In Rochester she opened up a whole lot more.

“What makes you think you can represent upstate?” she was asked.

“Well as I, first of all this was a great visit and I’ve already learned a lot and I want to come back,” Kennedy said.

The question came again: What have you learned?

“It’s a process so I just hope everybody understands this is not a campaign, but I have lived a life committed to public service, wrote a book on the constitution, the importance of independent participation, raised my family committed to education in New York City,” Kennedy said.

The mind reels.

Old Media Hypocrites

VanishingNYRep (Diary) Friday, December 19th at 9:15AM EST (link)

Can you imagine if Gov. Palin attempted to do what Princess Carolyn Kennedy is doing? Ms. Kennedy has no idea what she is doing. She has no positions on any issues. And it is apparent that she doesn’t know what the issues are. She is more familiar with Saks than Syracuse.

Where is Katie Couric and Charles Gibson demanding an interview with Princess Caroline? Naturally they won’t do it because it would demonstrate that Ms. Kennedy is merely a socialite. Asked about her political philosophy, Ms. Kennedy couldn’t give an answer. So far, everything she has said has been devoid of substance. She has no answers and falls back on her prepared answer that she’s a lawyer (never paracticed), a mother (admirable but easy to be when you are rich) and an author (of a book that no one would have bought if her name was Smith).

Everyone on RedState needs to send an e-mail to CBS and ABC and demand that they interview Princess Caroline with the same attitude they used on Gov. Palin. We could even help Ms. Couric prepare like the Obama advisors helped her prepare for the interview with Gov. Palin. I’m sure that Erick Erickson woukld be extremely happy to prepare questions for Ms. Couric to use on Ms. Kennedy.

It makes me ill that we cannot convince the 20% of the people who don’t pay attention that the Old Media is filled with phonies and hypocrites.

Ultimately, it's NY's call, not ours.

First off, no one in the MSM is going to risk irritating the Kennedy family by going tough on Caroline in an interview. Not gonna happen.

I must admit—I admire Democrats for their tactics. They pick candidates that they know the MSM won’t aggressively challenge. Obama got the kid glove treatement because no MSM reporter wanted to risk being tagged as a racist. Now, Caroline will sail through because many MSMers view her as the daughter of—in their eyes—Jesus.

Now, Caroline will have two years to ingratiate herself with NY’s people. If greater NYC swoons for her—as I suspect it will—she only needs a few upstate votes to win reeelection.

NYers will have their chance in two years to toss her from office. I suspect, though, they’ll keep her.

Apparently NY likes being ruled by royal families.

She's a complete bimbo.

“ooo look at me, I wrote a book and I really really like education and…umm…oh yeah I serve on this board, never mind that it’s named after my daddy, I still impress people on the board because of my gigantic brain, not because of my name…oh…and I like kittens, and puppies, espeically the really cute ones!”

I hope Caroline gets in -

- because this would finally destroy the Kennedy destiny once and for all.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

So, I fail to see the problem with her.
