McCain v. Obama: Round 3

I agree with the commentators who say that this third Presidential debate featured John McCain at his spunkiest. The question, of course, is whether this spunky debating performance comes too late to save McCain. The odds are against him but polls tend to close in the waning days of a Presidential campaign and if McCain can keep the margin respectably close, he stands an outside chance of winning. Three weeks is a very, very, very long time in politics and while Barack Obama is measuring the drapes and planning his victory party, this race is not over yet.

Of course, the real winner of the debate was Joe the Plumber. And evidently, he did well enough that Joe Biden felt the need to attack him and . . . I don’t know, doubt his existence?

Stay classy, Joe. If Biden didn’t exist, we would have to invent him.

Joe Blow Biden

Sharp_Right_Turn Thursday, October 16th at 12:18PM EST (link)

The reason why Sen. Biden doesn’t know any plumbers in his neighborhood that make $250K because no plumber can afford to live in his neighborhood. I doubt that he ever makes his way into a Home Depot except to hire migrant workers soliciting their services in the parking lot.

You know that the MSM are going to go full tilt into Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher because his cause and struggle are what the Liberals insist they champion. Problem is, he sees liberal policy for what it is and the Left feels betrayed. Believe me, if Sarah Palin were unemployed and unwed and most of all liberal, the Left would be parading her around like nobody’s business.

What makes Mr. Wurzelbacher’s grievances toward Obama’s tax proposals so relevant is that he’s not some Wall St. crony or Beltway Boy suffering from Potomac Fever. He’s a plumber. He represents a very large portion of the American body politic, a portion that happens to be essential to who wins the election in November.

Fasten your seat belt, Mr. Wurzelbacher. You’re in for a rough ride.

Just how many plumbers live in Biden's Neighborhood?

Biden's Plumber Comments

MSU_Charles Thursday, October 16th at 12:19PM EST (link)

are garbage on 2 fronts:

  1. Looking at Biden’s neighborhood, no plumbers live there. Are we really to believe that Biden truly understands the middle class?

  2. Once Joe the Plumber buys his new business, there is no reason to doubt that the business will earn over the $250K amount. Small businesses do this all the time.

If anyone would like to check the 2nd fact, simply look at the numbers presented in the Survey of Small Business Finances put out by the Federal Reserve.

I wish just 1 time the MSM would do its job and call the Dems out on these lies/falsehoods/distortions or whatever you want to call them. Enough is enough, I don’t always agree with Sean Hannity, but on this he is exactly correct — Main Stream Media is Done.

AIM Says Media Cover-Up Obama’s Socialist-Oriented Global Tax Bill

Press Release |
WASHINGTON, February 13, 2008 — Accuracy in Media editor Cliff Kincaid disclosed today that a hugely expensive bill called the “Global Poverty Act,” sponsored by Democratic Senator Barack Obama, was quickly passed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. Kincaid said that the major media’s cover-up of the bill, which makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations, demonstrates the media’s desire to see Senator Obama elected to the presidency.
In a column posted on the AIM web site, Kincaid noted that Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was trying to rush Obama’s “Global Poverty Act” (S. 2433) through his committee without hearings. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends. It was scheduled for a Thursday vote but was moved up a day, to Wednesday, and rushed through by voice vote. Kincaid learned, however, that conservative Senators have now put a “hold” on the legislation, in order to prevent it from being rushed to the floor for a full Senate vote.
The House version (H.R. 1302) was suddenly brought up on the House floor last September 25 and was passed by voice vote. House Republicans were caught off-guard, unaware that the pro-U.N. measure committed the U.S. to spending hundreds of billions of dollars. Kincaid’s column notes that the official in charge of making nations comply with the U.N. Millennium Goals, which are prominently highlighted in the Obama bill, says a global tax will be necessary to force American taxpayers to provide the money.

Wow, this is a nightmare team that must not take control…….

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

McCain and responsibility

SpL Thursday, October 16th at 1:23PM EST (link)

It would be nice to see plastered everywhere the word “Responsibility” associated with McCain. Many conservatives have not liked him or preferred much more conservative candidates. I think in this contest he is hands-down the most responsible choice.

If someone wants an icon or the first black president they are lost to McCain anyway. Add to that the high number of multiple votes that will be cast in Obama’s favor. You need A LOT more people voting for McCain.

Through early voting, same day registration, and other lax voting “improvements” the dems are going for the young, unreliable or fictional crowd. If you take Americans over 30 and cut out the die hard liberals and dem, you end up with a more reliable group of voters who have also worked anywhere from a decade (plus schooling) to their whole life for their retirement. Now their IRAs and homes are losing value.

Forget reformer-maverick angle. I think “McCain-Palin: a Record of Responsibility” is the theme for now. A point that struck me last night:

How much money could one recover just from transparency and reform? A lot! How about someone with the time in Washington (not as a good old boy!!) who knows the way to getting jobs back and cleaning up the bad legislation. Or coming to terms with lobbyists, etc. How in the world can Obama do ANY of these things? He wants to fix people’s lives by doling it out to them.

With a President McCain the first two years would be a standoff with a dem congress (unless they are forced to act by economic crisis). But if the dems continue to do giveaways, earmarks, and new spending it’s possible the Republicans could win seats back in the next election.

McCain needs to talk to people “where they are” which is looking down a magnificenty large money hole in Washington DC, while the fat cats cash in on giveaways and bailouts.

Here’s another one just for insurance: “Obama: Carter’s second term.”

Love it...

So interesting listening to everyone’s views and discussions.

Everything is going to change in just a matter of 19 days anyway. We need to be focusing on who ELSE will be in the house and senate – not everything is based on one man. Yes .. he is important though :)

McCain Has A Theme Now

Spartan4Life (Diary) Thursday, October 16th at 3:06PM EST (link)

NO TO SOCIALISM!

Joe the plumber said better than McCain has been able to what I think could be the big theme McCain has been needing. He represents what I think alot of people have been feeling and that is that we kind of like alot of things about America, such as freedom and Capitalism.

We may want to change but we don’t want to change into France.

The attacks of the Left on 'Joe the Plumber' today are just amazing

JLenardDetroit (Diary) Thursday, October 16th at 3:08PM EST (link)

This day after the Debate is amazing/telling…

Fox – Michael Capuano (D-MA) “He is NOT a Plumber” … “He is NOT Licensed” …

Obambam himself, I saw first hand on video a moment ago, “Senator Governmet” (Obama): “How many Plumbers do you know make $250,000″ … That was at a Rally today, which the Obamobots roundly applauded.

They don’t MISS THE POINT, they are purposefully DISMISSING and/or DISTORT the point to get Obambam out of his “spread the wealth” comment he made in a fit of actual honesty and revelation.

Countless other Dem’s and rep’s/spokesman are lambasting Joe and his desire to reach the American Dream and his desire to help others (through being able to expand the business and hire others, who one day may do what he is and actually start a competing business hiring more people).

It appears the only Plumbers they care about are the one’s without any ambition in the Construction Unions Trades and/or the like…

No-one, not Joe or anyone, has suggested (other than Obama in his snide remarks about “How many Plumbers do you know that make $250,000″ in trying to dismiss his (Obambam’s) Tax grab mis-step when he told the truth to Joe about his “spread the wealth” comment. Keep spinning….

“How many plumbing business owners do you know who make $250K?”

The other right question would be this: “How many plumbers do you know who would like to own their own plumbing business?”

The OTHER other right question would be this:

How much does a plumber make?

izoneguy (Diary) Thursday, October 16th at 5:55PM EST (link)

So 20 days per month. 12 months about 240 days….
On average a plumbing repair is between $250-$400
let’s say the do 4 jobs a day? $1000 a day x $240 is $240,000
And this is one guy. Let’s say the business has 3 plumbers.
Bringing in $200,000 a year….???
$600,000

Yet Obama is very vauge on what $250,000 is???
Net Gross??
1099, W-2 S-corp????

One owner…one employee…Joe.

Kowalski is right. McCain should be ashamed of himself for this garbage. If I were Joe I’d be lining up a smart lawyer.

An unlicensed plumber is worth about $10/hr depending or so in the midwest…I’m sure that’s a bit higher on the coast.

Can’t speak for anywhere else but if you have a building code where you live an unlicensed plumber is only good for cleaning drains.

Those damn facts.
