Bill Clinton still dislikes Barack Obama:
Former President Bill Clinton has largely kept himself out of the public eye since his wife lost the Democratic primary to Barack Obama.
However in a rare television interview tonight the former president called Republican presidential candidate John McCain “a great man” and praised GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as an “instinctively effective candidate.”
On a day when Obama sought to convince voters that he’s best able to handle the economic crisis, the former president said it was his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-NY, who gave today “the most detailed position.”
In an interview with CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo, Clinton, who has tried to put to rest rumors of tensions between himself and Obama said, “I’ve never concealed my admiration and affection for Senator McCain. I think he’s a great man.
“But, I think on the issues that matter to our future, the Obama-Biden team is, is more right,” Clinton said of the Democratic ticket. “And I believe they’re gonna win. But, I think that it will be competitive until the end.”
A ringing endorsement it wasn’t.
Read the rest of the story–it doesn’t do anything to help the Obama campaign. And remember again: Bill Clinton would stop saying these kinds of things if his wife asked him to. She hasn’t. Quite the contrary; she is more than glad to go around looking as if she is doing everything in her power to help the Obama-Biden ticket and she is perfectly happy to let her husband do the really significant work by turning a blind eye to each and every time Bill Clinton sticks a shiv in Barack Obama’s side.

If Bill Clinton can succeed
Adjoran (Diary) Friday, September 19th at 1:33AM EST (link)in damning Obama with faint praise, he will have secured the most important achievement of his public life besides steering NAFTA through ratification.
Notice also that Hillary has declined to join the piling on Palin, lest she add to the dismay of some of her supporters at the misogynist sliming by Obama fans in and out of Old Media.
Even considering her obvious self-interest in seeing Obama go down, this could be their finest hour.
Misogynists
Zaphod86 Friday, September 19th at 1:47AM EST (link)Don’t forget our favorite misogynist. The one who called his wife a c**t. The one who made fun of the teenage daughter of President Clinton. The one who left his disabled wife and remarried months after a divorce. Let us not pretend that McCain isn’t a misogynist, but at least he used to support a woman’s right to choose.
With friends like this . . .
boswell12 Friday, September 19th at 1:52AM EST (link)Clinton thinks McCain is a great man. That just confirms my despair at the with the Republican choice of nominee. McCain is a closet liberal. He plainly has done a turn around on such issues as abortion and immigration to obscure his earlier liberal leanings. I was hoping for Huckabee. Hell, I would support just about any of the other candidates for the nomination, but now we’re saddled with John, who’s getting more and more out of his depth it what was supposed to be his strong suit – foreign policy. That gaffe about Spain was embarrassing. Where’s Romney or Gulliani when we need them, and boy do we need them to save the party from this increasingly bizarre old man.
True
Zaphod86 Friday, September 19th at 2:02AM EST (link)True. His gaff about Spain was pathetic; considering that his main selling point is foreign policy, he isn’t proving that he will be able to keep track in fast times.
But I never understood how abortion is a liberal policy. It falls under personal responsibility, something that shouldn’t be scooped up by a party that claims they support small government, and less personal interference. Separation of Church and State has almost been eradicated.

Clinton's remarks are also
RMJ (Diary) Friday, September 19th at 9:20AM EST (link)interesting because it suggests that he still feels that Obama won’t win.
The instant that Bill & Hill think that Obama is likely to win I expect they will get much more effusive and sincere sounding in their support for him.
UHHHHHHHH No they won't

The only reason most conservatives will support McCain is because of Sarah Barracuda – the REAL reformer!
Sarah Palin actually ran a business, a town, a state and the National Guard!
Bet you touched yourself when you read about the Palin pregnancy smears, Zaphod86.
