“Helpful”

Notice what is missing in this story:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton marched for labor and stumped with Democrats on Saturday, but sidestepped questions about the woman who has taken her place as the nation’s most-talked-about female leader.

Clinton brushed aside questions about Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin during appearances at New York City’s annual Labor Day parade and later during a stop on Staten Island.

“This election is about issues, and that’s what’s going to matter to people at the end of the day,” she told reporters who asked her about the Alaska governor at a rally for a Democratic congressional candidate at Wagner College.

There was a brief “no way, no how, no McCain, no Palin” comment later on, but it is perfectly clear that Hillary Clinton is not taking Sarah Palin on. And since the Obama campaign desperately wants to take Sarah Palin on and would be benefited by having someone like Hillary Clinton do the taking on–for all of the obvious reasons–one can assume that Hillary Clinton is not exactly being helpful.

It isn’t hard for her to be helpful. All she has to do is say something like “we all want women to crack the political glass ceiling and reach the highest political offices in the land, but we don’t want just any woman to do that. Rather, we want a woman whose values are commensurate with ours.” And then, a segue can be made into a discussion of issues that supposedly matter to women and how Sarah Palin supposedly is bad on those issues.

But of course, that is not happening. Instead, Hillary Clinton is barely mentioning Sarah Palin while the latter is hammering at Barack Obama so effectively that Hillary Clinton can be excused for feeling wistful.

Think maybe that she does not want Obama to win? So do I. I wonder if from time to time, David Axelrod or David Plouffe meet with their counterparts from the Clinton campaign to discuss how best to unify. And I wonder if they bring food and drink tasters with them when they do.

They ought to, at any rate.

Obama should have helped her

Adjoran (Diary) Sunday, September 7th at 11:32PM EST (link)

pay down her campaign debt, as he promised.

Hillary pledged to pay all creditors before repaying her personal loans to the campaign, but BCFRA forbids any funds raised within 45 days of the election from being used to repay personal loans. Obama made no real effort to help her, and refused even the use of his email list for her to solicit on her own, and now it’s too late.

That’s $13 million Barry cost the Clintons out of their pockets. Yeah, they’ll be out there helping him all they can. If he starts drowning, they’ll toss him the biggest anvil they can find.

While naming Hillary VP had a huge downside, failing to even pretend to seriously consider her for the post and not following through on the promised help in debt retirement were blunders of omission of epic proportions. If/when Obama loses, analysts will point to these events as well as McCain’s brilliant pick of Palin as the main reasons.

“Think maybe that she does not want Obama to win? So do I.”

So do I. She doesn’t want to expend the political capital. I’m sure the provocateur-in-chief is whispering in her ear to slow-play it. By slow-playing it, she can rightfully claim she indeed tried to get Barack elected. But in 2012, the strategy will be to claim the middle, point to 3 failed leftists DEMs that ran and failed and surely she will assume her rightful place as the DEM nominee in 2012.

Well, that's why they call it a learning experience.

Now he knows not to do that next time.

Assuming the Democrats let him have the chance, of course. They tend not to.

Oh yes, Hillary has that special glow

she gets when a man has treated her like dirt and now really, really needs her help. She had a lot of experience with that when Bill strayed and then needed her to cover for him. And now it’s Barack who needs her.

….Barack? Yes I’d be happy to campaign for you….the only thing is I’m kind of busy…retiring my debt…I’ll get back to you..

Oh, and say hello to that lovely wife of yours. I know how important her advice is to you on your key decisions….oh, I have another call…byeee

Yes, Hillary is in the catbird seat now.

The best part...

Was that HRC specifically said she is ‘not’ campaigning against Palin. When, of course, the MSM thought the reason she was dispatched to Florida was to do just that.

And I agree, she’s trying to do just enough for the Democratic ticket this time so she can say she did due diligence. When (she hopes) it goes down in flames, she can sit back in her Senate seat for 4 more years and wait to see if McCain/Palin is a good bet for her to win. I think, from her standpoint, BO winning is horrible, since that means she has to wait 8 yrs to run again. Why would she ‘want’ to do that.

I believe Hillary Rodham Clinton will press the John McCain lever.

You know it, I know it, and the fans know it.

The Clintons might have made a deal, I thought, to make the convention peaceful: e.g. Billy Jeff to the Supreme Court and Shrillary as Secretary of State.

But now I think they will vote Republican: what interest could they really have in a victory for Big Brobama? Especially given Billy Jeff’s speech about voting for the guy “you don’t always agree with, but he gets the job done.”

It is a stretch to believe he was referring to Big Brobama!

And I do not believe they would need to wait 8 years: after 4 years of the Big Bro, people would really be ready for a change from him a la Jimmy Carter.
