Remember when in the days following the 1994 midterms, Peter Jennings offered this pinhead elitist opinion on the election results:
Some thoughts on those angry voters. Ask parents of any two-year-old and they can tell you about those temper tantrums: the stomping feet, the rolling eyes, the screaming. It’s clear that the anger controls the child and not the other way around. It’s the job of the parent to teach the child to control the anger and channel it in a positive way. Imagine a nation full of uncontrolled two-year-old rage. The voters had a temper tantrum last week….Parenting and governing don’t have to be dirty words: the nation can’t be run by an angry two-year-old.
Via Alan Colmes, David Brooks, the faux conservative columnist from al-New York Times, just had his Peter Jennings moment:
In a mature nation, President Obama could go on TV and say, “Listen, we’re doing the best we can, but some terrorists are bound to get through.” But this is apparently a country that must be spoken to in childish ways.
In other words, in Brooks’ view, much like Jennings, America is a collection of temper-tantrum throwing children who are too immature to handle the truth.
Actually, we can handle the truth, Mr. Brooks. We’re just not likely to hear it from the Little Black Man-Child or anyone in His administration.

Obama is the one that cannot handle the truth
izoneguy (Diary) Saturday, January 2nd at 7:03PM EST (link)We all know what is going on.
Obama just does not want to admit that he has failed.
He is not a God and he cannot command the bad people
to stop with his halting teleprompter speeches.
The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.
The classic left/right
bobbymike (Diary) Sunday, January 3rd at 3:23AM EST (link)You see the left supports the person the right supports policy. It really makes life easier.
That is why the left is so incredibly contradictory with the right much more consistent. Listen to a Ben Nelson tie himself in knots over healthcare and there are so many examples.
So Brooks uses the other left method – blame something else never blame the man. How many times have you heard a leftist politician be totally incoherent on a policy issue and some pundit say “you don’t understand cause the politician is so nuanced and smart”
I, on the other hand, support policies and principles. I thoughly enjoy disarming my leftist friends by being consistent. If Bush did something, like Medicare drug entitlement or TARP, my leftist friends would come running “Hey do you support Bush on Medicare drug entitlement?” Rather than say to myself “I must support the man”, I simple say “no I do not support it because it is another big government spending plan that it unconstiutional”
Always stand on principle my firends. Republicans largely lost their power in Washington by supporting the man, Bush, and all the policies that flew in the face of conservative principles. And by the way, not that anyone here at Redstate needs this information, Brooks is NOT a conservativein in any way, shape or form.
Supporting Principles
pdigaudio (Diary) Tuesday, January 5th at 11:38AM EST (link)There were plenty of things I did not support that Bush did. I didn’t care for the big new drug entitlement, the pork-laden farm bill, Harriet Miers, etc.
I believe in supporting principles and when politicians of any stripe push policies that are contrary to those principles, it’s time to speak up. Republicans are making a huge mistake if they think all they have to do is co-opt the Tea Party movement to get back into power and go back to business as usual.
Principals are one thing
Richard Mullins (Diary) Tuesday, January 5th at 11:52AM EST (link)but some of our Two-faced electorate simply gave up instead of voting what they believed. It wasn’t like these bad things didn’t have any support(they sure did when it came to medicare entitlements). We need stand for principals first then convey them to our politicians. That should work out fine.
