He may have fooled millions during the campaign, but there is no way that can continue. The public has to catch on sooner or later. Therefore, if carbon emissions are always rising then it begs to reason for global warming to be true, there needs to be a direct correlation between global temperatures and carbon emissions. Thus, the onus must fall on the individual states to block the federal government’s continual power grab. States have one weapon that our forefathers placed in the Constitution and it is the 10th Amendment. Our forefathers where extremely smart and not only created checks and balances in the federal government, but also checks and balances between the state governments and the federal government. They visualized the United States being run as what they called a dual federalism society. Dual federalism means the country would be run by both state and federal governments with fairly equal powers. However, over the years the federal government has been gaining power at the expense of the states governments. In fact, the 10th amendment may actually give the states more power than the federal government.

Since Democrats have a stranglehold on both the legislative and executive branches, there is very little conservatives and even concerned independents in Washington can do to stop the onslaught of legislation being pushed by Obama to support his socialistic agenda.

Why is it so hard to think that Sarah is telling the truth and resigned because she cannot afford to continually pay for the legal fees to fend off bogus and frivolous ethics violations? It is estimated that she has forked out nearly a half million to keep her name clean. The Palin family only earned 166 thousand last year. Hence, she certainly does not have the means and opportunity as many governors and Washington politicians to fight the good fight. Keep in mind, Palin has not been found guilty of doing anything illegal despite dozens of claims. This however, has not stopped the left from their onslaught to attack Sarah and her family. Most of the allegations against Palin have nothing to do with politics, but are personal. In fact, many are vicious attacks against her family. The ugly politics of the left has finally succeeded in taking down Palin. This unfortunately should be the end of her political career.

To a degree the DNC is correct; she is tired of the relentless heat generated from the constant attacks and lies about her family. However, they are egregiously wrong if they do not think she cannot handle the heat of dealing with the politics of governing Alaska. She has already disproved this hypothesis and her record speaks volumes to refute this claim. The DNC also calls her behavior bizarre. This too is absurd since it was the constant attacks from the left that has essentially bankrupted her family and left her unable to support them. I truly believe that Palin is doing what is best for family. I realize this is hard for many media and political pundits to understand. Consider, while Palin has an impeccable political record and she has been forced to resign by bogus lawsuits and frivolous ethics complaints, meanwhile Ensign and Sanford continue to serve after shamelessly committing adultery. While Ensign and Sanford continue to show off their super ego and arrogance by remaining in office, the morally superior Palin resigns. This only illustrates that Palin is a great leader and is doing the right thing by placing her family first while other politicians place themselves first.

After resigning from office, I think Palin has no future in politics. If she were to run for Senator or President the left will never let her live down abandoning her governorship. Some believe that this break from politics will let Palin relax and study national economic and global policies to prepare for a run at the White House. If this is true, this would be a disaster for the GOP, especially if she wins the nomination. The left has already shown they can ruin this good lady and her family, thus it begs to reason it should be easy for the left to take her down for a second time. No, Palin is once again correct because she is placing her family first. Her family will no longer be the brunt of inexplicable late night jokes and the constant focus of the brutal attacks from the left. Palin is simply showing she is class act by prioritizing her family over her ambitions of being a politician. No one will admit this, but Palin is right to do what is best for her family.

President Obama’s new cap and trade energy policy is as he says is trying to emulate the California energy policy over the past 3 decades. Obama claims that Californians use 40% less energy than other Americans on average (per capita) and they have generated 1.5 million new jobs. All of this may be true, but I would like to see Republicans refute some of these claims. After all, I think it is a huge mistake for any President to try to emulate a state that is in political shambles and economic turmoil. Here are a few suggestions that Republicans can investigate to challenge the President and his current policy to emulate California’s energy policy:

I really think that most Californians have very few heating and cooling hours per year when compared to other Americans living in different regions of the country.

They are in serious trouble with high unemployment and have nearly a 25 billion dollar deficit. California also has by far the highest standard of living than any other state in the United States. So it begs to reason why Obama wants to emulate California’s energy policies. After all, isn’t it plausible that California’s economic wows are directly related to their energy policies? This is not that far fetched of a hypothesis. Consider that many side effects of the California and the new Obama energy policies are: higher energy costs for all individuals and companies. I would be willing to bet California’s energy policies is a big reason contributing to the state’s economic demise. These energy policies are costly for all individuals and businesses, thus the policies can be in fact doing more to inhibit growth than promote growth. The policies can also be partly to blame for the outrageous cost of living in California.

I certainly do not have any problem with Madoff getting a 150 year sentence for pleading guilty to 11 counts of fraud. He probably deserves a worse sentence for ruining many lives. However, I find it ironic that the Madoff investment Ponzi scheme was found to be illegal, however many corporations and our government also use Ponzi schemes. Amway Corporation is run like a Ponzi scheme. A Ponzi scheme is similar to a triangle business model where each person in the company is required to sign up so many people to cover their expenses. This is the basic philosophy behind the Madoff and our federal governments running of our retirement accounts. Our government runs social and retirement programs such as: entitlement, social security, and Medicare as a Ponzi scheme. I would like to see someone challenge the government and the way they handle these programs. Basically, the elder people collecting social security and Medicare benefits are being paid for by younger generations. Thus, by the time younger generations reach retirement, they too are collecting money from younger generations. In essence, the money I am paying into to social security and Medicare is already being spent to support current retirees. This to me makes absolutely no sense. The money I save for Medicare and social security should be used by me and only me when I retire. This is the only way to ensure the money is there when I retire. With the current recession the money for Medicare and social security will dry up in the next decade if nothing is done. The current recession is same reason as to why the money dried up in the Madoff Ponzi scheme and he was caught. The government will solve the problem simply by raising Medicare and social security taxes on individuals and corporations. This is a travesty and should be illegal. If the government only ran these programs properly from the onset, there would be no need to raise any taxes on individuals and corporations to support these programs. This is why our government cannot be trusted to run any corporations or programs. They are financially illiterate and have basically destroyed everything they have tried to run. They have not only destroyed the way our retirement accounts are being financed, they have destroyed businesses such as the Post Office, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac all of which are losing money at alarming rates. In essence, the government lacks strategic financial vision and finds solutions to problems that work today while neglecting future implications of their plan. If it is illegal for Madoff to run a financial Ponzi scheme, then logic would seem to dictate that it should be illegal for the federal government to run our retirement accounts in a Ponzi scheme. I think it is insane that the American taxpayers are continuously penalized because of our federal government’s continual colossal errors in basic financial judgment.

Thus, Republicans only need to sit back and stay out of trouble and let the Democrats and Obama ruin their reputations by pushing their socialistic agenda. The Republicans have no one to blame but themselves now that the Democrats hold substantial edges in the legislative and executive branches. After all, the Republicans blew their chances when they held political majorities in Washington by overspending. Republicans also had their fair share of scandals that made them look bad in the public eye such as Senator Craig, and Congressman Foley.

Sure, there is a double standard where Republicans get less favorable press than Democrats who commit similar offenses. Recently, Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards and former President Bill Clinton had affairs and the press basically gave them a pass. It is my view that politicians that commit these offenses should resign, especially Republicans. It amazes me how politicians continue to serve the public and do not resign after committing ethical violations. Any normal person would have been embarrassed or disgraced by their actions and resigned. This does not seem to be the case with Washington politicians. Republicans preach the sanctity of marriage, but turn around and disgrace that position with hypocritical actions. The Republican Party should not tolerate anyone that disgraces their position, especially a politician that is being hypocritical like Sanford and Ensign. Mark Sanford’s actions are particularly disturbing because he had been getting plenty of press recently because he has opposed receiving stimulus money from the federal government. Now, the liberal left is painting both of these men as hypocritical “dirt bags” and unfortunately they are right. Republicans should not tolerate this behavior in their party. I always viewed the Republican Party as the best party in terms of ethical behavior. Now, I am not sure because it seems a Republican is connected to some sort of scandal every 6 months or so.

I am tired of hearing all this talk about Bush-era war crimes and injustices. I just got another article from my leftist brother about a man that was held for 7.5 years in Gitmo before being released. Apparently the man was innocent. I believe it, war is horrible thing any many injustices occur. The Iraq war has shed light on many difficult injustices to comprehend such as the torture of 3 detainees, soldiers killed by friendly fire such as NFL star Pat Tillman, the killing of innocent civilians such as those by Blackwater workers, and of course the mistreatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib. War is horrible and many injustices do indeed occur and happen. I do not contest that many injustices have occurred in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as at Gitmo. However, we must be reasonably as a people before we are ready to judge Bush-era employees for their roles in so called “war crimes”. Consider the following points before passing judgment on these so called “war criminals”:

Injustices in any war should be determined along with any consequences by the military peers and superiors of those that have committed any infractions.

2. Even in this day and age of communication, the Bush-era so called “war crimes” are fairly tame when compared to the atrocities committed by other administrations. Consider FDR imprisoning over 100 thousand Japanese-Americans into war camps. Truman dropped the A-Bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima killing thousands of innocent Japanese civilians. Also, under Truman’s watch tens of thousands of German civilians were brutally pillaged after the war was over. So why has history judged both FDR and Truman in a good light if so many atrocities occurred on their watch? The reason is simple, their actions may have been perceived as severe, but in the end it was determined they were necessary to protect our freedom and save American lives. This should sound familiar because this is exactly what Bush-era folks accomplished when they tortured a few detainees.

3. The Geneva Convention places rules and regulations on how to treat enemy prisoners. Thus, the Geneva Convention covers uniformed prisoners; it does not cover prisoners who fight Americans by blending in with the public.

This sounds like the right thing to do, but look back on history, when have “war criminals” been given these rights. After WWII did we give the war criminals that masterminded the Holocaust Miranda Rights and a trial on U.S. soil with the best lawyers? Absolutely not, they were tried in a military tribunal and most received the death penalty for their crimes. So it begs to reason, why are suspected terrorists that slaughtered Americans in Embassy bombings or in the Trade Center buildings being given the same rights as you and me? What Bush did was no different than any previous President. Could you imagine the outrage around the globe if we gave Holocaust war criminals the same rights as you and me? I find it peculiar the world views Bush as a war criminal when they did the same exact thing to protect their civilians after WWII. Now, after Americans are slaughtered on 9/11, the world and liberals are viewing us as performing injustices to protect our citizens. Also, remember, American soldiers that commit a crime are not tried in public courts and they are not given the same rights as you and me. They are tried by a military counsel. Thus, enemy combatants and terrorist now have more rights than American servicemen.

Now, how can anyone feel bad that three individuals with ties to Al-Qaida and the atrocities of 9/11 were tortured? I hardly think justice has been served since these men still live.
