When my dad was traveling back and forth to England with Boeing, he had difficulty getting the management at Rolls Royce to think outside the box. Once over that hurdle, the unions would block any action that would have made sense from a production standpoint, like shift work to ensure on-time deliveries.

So I guess my point is...yes, decades.

yes the food is great, but overall, Europeans are sadly lost. Their ability to problem solve is greatly eroded from decades of Socialism. I often times run into a great deal of frustration trying to get simple solutions to simple problems adopted and typically find that they are incapable of thinking outside the box the Government has packed them into.

I'm writing this from Amiens, France. The food is amazing! Sadly, the populace is completely duped by a media even more biased than in the U.S. The bigger problem is that Europeans have convinced themselves that the media is unbiased.

I've had some great talks with German, Irish, Britih, and French coworkers. Usually they are shocked when I begin laying out the case for Conservativism. They've never heard such a thing! I even got one French school teacher to agree that privatizing the school system would be the best solution.

Europeans are generally wonderful people. If we could only break through their rediculous media, I think a lot of Europe would be more conservative than much of the U.S.

So's the beer and wine. I can personally vouch for that (I'm typing this from Tübingen, Germany). I had a good discussion about health care with my Munich coworkers last week. Unfortunately, like too many in the U.S., they get their only information from Reuters, AP, and the cable TV News shows.
