It’s a Trumpy poll — but if you’re Donald Trump today, you take your good news wherever you can find it:
The full results from Sunday night’s debate are in, and Donald Trump has come from behind to take the lead over Hillary Clinton.
The latest Rasmussen Reports White House Watch national telephone and online survey shows Trump with 43% support among Likely U.S. Voters to Clinton’s 41%. Yesterday, Clinton still held a four-point 43% to 39% lead over Trump, but that was down from five points on Tuesday and her biggest lead ever of seven points on Monday.
That’s the good news for Trump. What’s the bad news?
Um. How long do you have?
First, it’s Rasmussen — a poll with a C+ grade from FiveThirtyEight, wnich says it has a consistent 2% bias in favor of Trump.
Meanwhile, yesterday the polling news was all bad for Trump — with shockingly bad news from Utah, coupled with bad news in Wisconsin and Ohio.
Today, we have the Trump campaign pulling out of Virginia and getting killed in Pennsylvania.
Oh, and in non-polling news? Well, when your Big Message of the Day is “We’re threatening to sue the New York Times for libel!!!” . . . things are not going well.
So, his campaign is pretty much in free fall.
But if you’re a Trumper looking for good news, just keep repeating: “He’s up in Rasmussen. He’s up in Rasmussen. He’s up in Rasmussen.”
Then click your heels together three times, and maybe a house will drop on Trump’s head.
