you can get a quick overview on why and wheres of Afghanistan.
Basically the country had two major products, heroin and terrorists.
But browse through and see if that helps you get up to speed.

the century old fight between the tribes picks back up.

The "whatever we call militants these days" ratchet back up with Iranian money, weapons and men via Syria and the house of cards falls to the ground.

Of course it will be Bush's fault in some weird way, according to the spin doctors.

Wish I was wrong, see every indication that I am right.

So far as Afghanistan, It doesn't look like Fearless Leader has decided how he can lose there and still blame it on Bush.
So it may be a while before we lose Afghanistan, depending on how long Soros takes to make up his mind.

history but like has anyone ever won there?
Would it be bad if he withdrew? I was kind of surprised we were there in the first place with the mountains and stuff.

For all intents and purposes, Iraq is already won (and, by that I mean - turned over to the locals).

So, bottom line - the prisoners don't "belong" to us anymore, they belong to the Iraqs. They can worry about the consequences.

But I fully expect Obama to throw in the towel in Afghanistan soon, and that is nowhere near "won" - in fact, it and Pakistan grow worse by the day.
