Have the markets gone mad?

I’m a lot of things. I’m an American, I’m a small business owner, and I’m a conservative. I focus mostly on that last one, conservatism is the answer this country needs. Party label doesn’t always correspond to Conservatism, and we need to hold feet to the fire on that point, even in the Republican Party as the Financial Deform Bill vote showed (thanks a lot Scott Brown, you traitor). But my belief in free markets is giving me a rather ‘WTF’ moment today.

In the first day of trading on the stock market after this socialistic effort to kill off private enterprise, the Dow jumped triple figures. CNBC had interviews with analysts on the floor saying not only was the bill a cause for optimism in the market but that savvy investors were buying on the cheap as it became clear that the Greek Crisis “wasn’t as bad as we thought it was” to turn a profit as the market rose on that news. I’m spitting im so mad.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe the death of American Private Enterprise was quicker then I thought it would be. Obozo and his band of socialists have got to be manipulating the market, it’s the only way this could happen.

Supreme Court cozies up to immigrants/aliens by a 7-2 margin

And they overturned Kentucky’s Supreme Court to do so!

Meet Jose Padilla. The other one. Maybe it’s the name that brings it out, but he’s a bad apple. Caught in Kentucky with a truck stuffed full of marijuana. His lawyer advised him to plead guilty (he was caught red handed) and so he did, and got what was coming to him.

Here’s where it gets fun. Jose is not an American, but a Honduran. Naturally, transporting a giant load of drugs around the country was an offence that was going to get him deported. But the left couldn’t stand that. Aided by 5 justices on the court who held a broad opinion (and to give out fair criticism, both Alito and Roberts concurred but with a narrower holding.) What does this do for existing cases?

Well if you’re here as an immigrant now and get arrested, if your lawyer does not go into detail about the possible effects on your immigrations status, the Supreme Court decided you get another chance at convincing one of those 12 people on the jury that you decide to let you go. To be fair to Alito and Roberts, their narrow holding only applies if you ask your lawyer and they give you an answer that is manifestly false, but the other 5 justices who wrote the majority opinion go even farther, to the absurd standard mentioned before.

Yet another ‘right’ we’re giving those taking over our country, most of them illegally.

From ScotusBlog

Yesterday, the Supreme Court handed down an opinion that could affect the criminal and immigration proceedings of tens of thousands of immigrant defendants, holding that the Sixth Amendment requires criminal defense attorneys to advise their immigrant clients of the possible deportation consequences of a guilty plea.  In overturning a contrary decision by the Supreme Court of Kentucky, the Court has potentially paved the way for significant changes in the way criminal trials for immigrant defendants are handled.

Uh Oh

We may have just been screwed over on health care reform by the so-called ‘conservative’ democrats once again, and maybe a couple Republicans too.

The libtards online are all in a kerfluffle over a ‘compromise’ (I say that in quotes because its really even more intrusive) that would drop the words ‘public option’ in exchange for massively jacking up government intrusion into your private health decisions. Hot off Franken’s absurd stunt on the senate floor forcing himself into a Republican amendment, the trial balloon being floated about by the white house ‘compromises’ by putting in place exactly what Candidate Obama spewed all over the stump last year: Opening up the Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan.

The FEHB, administered by the Office of Personal Management exploits the ridiculous situation of the Federal Government being the largest employer in the country and lords that over companies, by doing things like requiring plans to limit their profits to 1.2 percent or they aren’t allowed to sell to federal employees. Only now it would be each and every one of us.

From whats being reported, all the D’s but Lieberman have weighed in in favor of the idea, and Collins and Snowe (RINOs-ME) are quote listening unquote.

I have a sinking feeling in my gut. Anybody got a second to be reassuring?

Gun Owners of America takes stand against Obamacare

As if to add emphasis of the vast spectrum of people pushing back against this unconstitutional powergrab by the liberal establishment in Washington, Gun Owners of America, the second largest Second Amendment group in the country – behind only the NRA- is distributing the facts and talking points on Obamacare to it’s entire membership! This is great news, as it represents a way to sidestep the liberal media in getting our message out to America. Not only that, but it’s coming from an unbiased group not involved in healthcare, eliminating any question about conflict of interest. From the mailing:

Tomorrow will be as important a day as any in our lifetimes in determining whether the anti-gun health care bill moves forward.

The key vote will be on shutting down a Republican filibuster of the ObamaCare bill, HR 3590. In the Senate, we are faced with a health care bill that:

* Costs $2.5 trillion during its first ten years of full implementation (2014-2023);

* Increases insurance premiums and imposes $376 billion in tax increases — many on the middle class; and

* Cuts Medicare by $465 billion, while increasing health costs by over $100 billion.

Fox News is reporting today that the word “tax” appears 183 times in the health care bill. Is Obama serious? Is that what he and Reid want to do to us in the midst of a recession?

Of course, all this increased spending — and taxes — means that you will have less money to spend on pursuing your real passions: like providing for your family and purchasing guns and ammunition!

(emphasis in the original)
and:

Do you want left-wing bureaucrats appointed by Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid determining whether you should own a gun via the health care system?

If not, then you need to call right away. Our gun rights — and the fate of our economy — are hanging in the balance.

ACTION: Call your two U.S. Senators. Please urge them to vote against “cloture” on the “motion to proceed” to HR 3590.

You can call your Senators toll-free at 1-877-762-8762. The phones are ringing off the hook right now on Capitol Hill. More likely than not, you will have to try several times because the circuits have been overloaded.

But don’t be discouraged… keep calling!

Also, ask your wife, your relatives, your neighbors, your church — everyone, short of your dog — to do the same. This is crunch time!

NOTE: The alternate, non toll-free, number is 202-224-3121.

You can go to gunowners.org to read the full, original letter.

This is just yet another unbiased group coming out against this monstrosity and demonstrating it goes beyond just doctors, but may be literally an attempt to rip your gun out of your hands. Is this their contingency plan because they didn’t expect so many patriots to show up at the tea parties? I wouldn’t put it past them.

We should push as many third party groups as possible to take a stand against this bill like Gun Owners of America has, let them see just who is against this. Senior citizens groups are very influential and the cuts to medicare are very real, perhaps we can push some of them to stand against this monstrosity. Every voice helps!
