** OUR DAYS ARE, ONCE AGAIN, NUMBERED

The global warming kooks are at it again. (http://topics.nytimes.com/topics/news/science/topics/globalwarming/#)

Not that they ever really surrendered and packed their bags and headed for cooler climes. (Would Al Gore even allow surrender?) But they were at least relatively quiescent over the last few months as economic catastrophes rocked the planet and their solutions for naturally-occurring increases in global temperatures seemed to be assigned to the these panic mavens’ back burners.

However, economic realities be damned, they’re back in all their former glory, aka, reprehensibility, with all their tainted statistics and with all their spurious, politically-motivated plans to save the planet from the mass of ignoramusi who just can’t comprehend the unmitigated disaster that lay ahead if we don’t repent and mend our evil, polluting ways.

Just visualize Greenland being farmed, again, and Siberia as an agricultural paradise! The horror!

That same band of brothers was equally hysterical when predicting an altogether different Armageddon a mere thirty years ago when planetary disaster loomed in the form of global freezing which, they swore and threatened, would result in a New Ice Age. That chilling prediction was also caused, of course, by the cretins that inhabit our poor, fragile Earth.

Turns out there was no need to button up our overcoats and head for Mexico since that ice age never happened.

Undeterred by reality, the New Ice Agers totally reversed course and opted for a New Toasted Earth.

If nothing else, you have to admit these serial alarmists, unlike Planet Earth, are adaptable: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=43331.

The 2004 disaster flik, The Day After Tomorow, combined the best of both liberal nightmares, global warming effecting global freezing, but unfortunately for them failed to incite an international panic. So it was back to the drawing boards for the panic meisters.

That failure aside, there’s far more to today’s global warming kooks than just hysteria and error.

First, there’s the impetus of that root of all evil, money.

How many institutional grants and how much governmental largesse would be available to professors and to sleazy politicos if they announced tomorrow that Mother Earth was just fine and dandy and simply weathering normal, cyclical variations which would eventually be naturally reversed without the intercession of experts?

I’d guess very few or none. Funds would dry up as quickly as the Mojave Desert which, by the way, is already pretty arid.

That lust for money is understandable, if reprehensible especially when it leads seemingly reputable scientists to hock their supposedly objective souls for the almighty dollar, pound, or euro.

What’s far worse is the political motivations behind all the global warming claptrap, as seen in this recent Brit report: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/climatechange/3530607/Lawyers-call-for-international-court-for-the-environment.html.

Seems the Brits, led by one Stephan Hockman, are now leading the charge while the future Obama administration is in the birthing process, and that charge is being heralded with all guns blazing from across the Pond.

The plan includes scrapping the odious Kyoto Protocols, odious to developed nations such as the United States since they promised to cripple our economy. But Kyoto represented manna from the polluted heavens to arch-polluters India, China, and the Third World.

Of course, we have never signed on to Kyoto. Bill Clinton dithered and balked at the thought, George W. Bush knew it would be deadly to our industrial base and outright refused to be party to plans directed at tilting the playing field against the industrialized nations in favor of developing nations.

Who knows what Obama will do.

Kyoto was and is moot anyway since few nations paid anything but lip service to its requirements.

But pay they will under the new schemes.

Lawyers have now entered the fray, no doubt with John Edwardsian visions of Big Payoffs when recalcitrant polluting nations violate the mandates of Big International Brother and will be required to cough up, pun intended, Big Time.

Lawyer/Judge Stephan Hockman QC of the UK’s scheme is for a new International Court of Justice which will enforce international law on those recalcitrants and exact severe reparations should those obstinate and wayward nations dare to defy that court.

Guess who will pay most of the piper’s bill?

Hint: It won’t be the Third World.

(Please see my book, An Immodest Proposal for Ending and Winning the War on Terror, Chapter 3, pp. 21-39, for more detail on the charade that is “global warming.”)

What will be the Orwellian spin this time. Maybe, the "The Public Servants Privacy Act" or how about the "The Promotion of Responsible Government Act"

They'll get unions, expecially the teachers, cops, and other public servants to push the bill. They'll say that public servants deserve privacy and the good and responsible governing requires freedom to act with worrying about muckrackers, "special interest groups" and "big corporations".

Of course, it wont make any sense what so ever. It will be total horse manure like the Check Card bill, but there will be some idiotic bill from some idiotic Democrat trying to stop these inquiries.

Why should a citizen seeking information about government expenditures be forced to pay fees for that information? Natalie's article listed one case in which the researcher faced hundreds of dollars in fees for the information. Since every governmental official is technically supposed to be working for us, we should have the right to examine every piece of the paper trail they create. Granted, certain exceptions need to be made in cases of national security but state financial expenditures should be public and easily accessible.

something Gov. Palin likes to brag about. That said, you really have to know what you're looking for and looking at, which pretty much means if you're not a State accounting type or high-level manager, you don't know what you're seeing.

Also, like any governmental accounting system, everything is dependent on what the system is told. As with statistics, liars do figures.

We got a bad case of Democrat "streamlining" under Knowles. All that Algore "reinventing government" stuff was all about eliminating the checks and rules on moving and spending money, hiring people, and buying stuff to make the world safer for Democrat corruption. Unfortunately, neither Gov. Murkowski nor Gov. Palin have seen fit to do anything about it except in the personnel administration area. We reorganized all that in Murkowski to get some central government control over it. The reorganization has been under assault in Palin but hasn't been completely undone by the congenital 'crats.

that puts the entire state expenditure system online.

I don't have the heart to read through it. I would likely get disgusted and break my hand punching something.

Here's hoping CO can get some more transparency to their spending...if you can stand it.
